Keeping Dogs Cool in Hot Weather

🐾 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.

🐾 Check pavements before walks – if it’s too hot for your hand for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for paws.

🐾 Always provide fresh, cool water and carry water on walks.

🐾 Use cooling mats, damp towels, or cooling vests.

🐾 Freeze treats such as dog-safe peanut butter, banana, or broth in enrichment toys.

🐾 Provide shaded areas in the garden and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

🐾 Use paddling pools or sprinklers for dogs that enjoy water.

🐾 Never leave a dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

🐾 Watch for signs of heatstroke:

* Excessive panting
* Drooling
* Lethargy
* Vomiting
* Bright red gums
* Collapse
