Last week we sadly lost our beautiful bulldog, Ripple, to cancer after such a quick and unexpected illness. We still can’t quite believe she’s gone. She was only 6 years old.

Ripple was the loveliest girl and so many people will remember seeing her coming to work with me every day, always ready and excited for her walks. She absolutely loved her food, finding a sunny spot to lie in, and being around people who loved her.

She brought so much happiness, laughter and comfort into our lives, and the house feels incredibly empty without her and her funny personality and attitude. We miss her massively already.

You could go for a long walk or run which is good for physical activity and also good to be out in nature and taking in fresh air, you could also have a dog thats interested in agility or other activities that also keeps you active, healthy and mobile. These can be fun ways to fit exercise into your daily routine.

- Boost self confidence. Having a dog can be a great self confidence builder as dogs can offer unconditional love, they wont criticise you, they listen and look up to you as their master and are always looking at you for instruction and guidance to follow. This can help your self confidence if you feel isolated or misunderstood.
- Owning a dog can help you to meet new people. Dog owners often stop and chat to one another when out on walks and it is a way to make new friends. Dog owners also bump into new people and chat in pet shops, training classes, or online groups, etc.🦮🐾

- Providing companionship. Dogs can give you a sense of security and someone to share the day with. Caring for a dog can help you feel wanted and needed and is especially valuable for older people or those who live alone as this can also help to ease your anxiety and also have the sense of protection when owning a dog.🦮🐾

Dogs also need exercise to maintain muscle tone as well as an appropriate weight for their age and breed. It’s wise to give your pooch at least one walk per day but twice is ideal regardless of breed or size.
