📢 IMPORTANT – TEMPORARY CLOSURE DATES 📢

Just a quick heads-up that Clarke Aquatics will be CLOSED on the following dates while our team attends industry trade shows:

🔴 Wednesday 9th September – CLOSED
🔴 Monday 14th September – CLOSED

We’re heading to the shows to meet suppliers, discover new products, livestock and equipment, and hopefully find plenty of exciting new additions to bring back to Clarke Aquatics! 🐠🪸🐟

✅ All other days we’ll be OPEN as normal.

We apologise for any inconvenience and really appreciate your understanding. These events help us keep improving the shop, expanding our ranges and bringing you even more choice.

🚨 UPDATE – OUR SIGNAGE LIVES ANOTHER DAY!! 🎉

Nobody arrived today to take our signage down, despite being told that this was going to happen 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’re not quite sure what this means just yet, but we’ll keep you updated as things progress!

In the meantime, we just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported us over the weekend. We were completely blown away by the response to our previous post. ❤️

We are still open — but our window coverings are coming down 💔

Unfortunately, the Council informed us yesterday afternoon they will be visiting the shop on Monday morning to remove our signage and window coverings.

We are absolutely devastated. We’ve put so much time, effort and care into creating our shop front, and we’ve fought hard to keep it. We’re incredibly proud of what we created, so to see it go is genuinely upsetting.

From Monday, our fabulous aquatic shop may no longer look quite so fabulous from the outside. Please bear with us while we work out a solution and get something else in place.

But most importantly — WE ARE STILL OPEN!

We will remain open every day throughout September and beyond, even if we may not look like an open shop from the outside.

Please share this post if you can, so that our little shop doesn’t get forgotten amongst the loss of our branding. We’ve put so much hard work into building Clarke Aquatics, and we want to make sure our customers know that we’re still here.

Whilst we may no longer be bringing a little bit of colour to the street (or, apparently, bringing Port St into disrepair 😅), we’re still the same enthusiastic, independent aquatic shop we’ve always been.

We look forward to welcoming you through the doors — whether our shop front looks fabulous or not!

🐟 Fish-Care Sunday: Setting Up a Coldwater Tank! ❄️

Thinking about keeping coldwater fish? A coldwater aquarium can be a simple and rewarding setup, with lots of possibilities depending on the fish you want to keep.

🪨 Substrate & décor – Gravel, sand, plants and ornaments give your fish somewhere to explore and hide.

💧 Filtration – A good filter is essential for keeping the water clean and maintaining a healthy biological environment.

🌡️ Temperature – Unlike tropical aquariums, coldwater tanks don't usually need a heater. The important thing is keeping the temperature stable and suitable for your chosen fish.

💦 Water conditioner – Always treat tap water to remove chlorine and chloramine before adding it to your aquarium.

🐟 Choose your fish first! Different coldwater species have different space and compatibility requirements, so make sure your tank is large enough for the adult size of the fish you want to keep.

🍽️ Feeding – A good-quality coldwater food, fed in appropriate amounts, will help keep your fish healthy without unnecessarily affecting water quality.
