🎉 Happy 1st Birthday to Tidy Tails 🎉 🐾

One year ago today, Tidy Tails opened its doors, and honestly, I can hardly believe how quickly it's gone.

I want to say a huge thank you to every single client who has trusted me with their dogs over this first year. Some of you have been with me right from the start, and getting to watch your dogs' progress has been the most rewarding part of this whole journey. Seeing an anxious dog who once found grooming really stressful now walk in relaxed, or even excited, is exactly why I do things the way I do.

A big thank you to Kenny and Michelle at Rowan House Kennels, and all the local dog businesses, walkers, trainers, and my former colleagues at Dogs Trust who have recommended me to their clients and friends. That kind of trust means a lot, especially coming from people who know dogs as well as you do. Tidy Tails wouldn't be where it is today without those referrals.

And to my family and friends, thank you for the support behind the scenes. It hasn't gone unnoticed, even when I haven't said it enough.

Here's to the next few years and whatever comes next for Tidy Tails. I can't wait to see how it grows. Here's to many more waggy tails, belly rubs and smart doggies. 🐾🐕

Sometimes you've just got to take the lead...

Monty was a little unsure of getting in the hydrobath so rather than using force, I showed him how it's done and that there was nothing to be scared of.

Joanna Palmer of Tidy Tails Grooming in Badsey, Evesham, is celebrating one year in business after grooming more than 230 dogs, with a prize draw for customers in October.

Hear no evil, see no evil 👂👀

Ears and eyes are easy to keep on top of between grooms. A quick weekly look and sniff at the ears will tell you a lot, especially for floppy-eared breeds like spaniels and doodles, a cotton pad soaked in ear cleaner or coconut oil gently wipes away the build up of ear wax which can harbour bacteria, yeast or mites.

A damp cotton pad to wipe away tears and any gunk around the eyes prevents tear staining and soreness. If anything looks red, inflamed or smells off or your dog keeps scratching, it’s worth a trip to the vet.

All Tidy Tails full grooms include a gentle ear clean. A Blueberry facial can be added to assist with tear stain removal.
For poodles and doodles and other breeds which grow hair down in their ear canal ask us at their next groom about ear plucking.

It's World Animal Day, which feels like a perfect excuse to talk about something we care about a lot at Tidy Tails, and that's how a dog actually feels while they're being groomed. A good groom should leave your dog comfortable and looked after from start to finish, so we work at their pace, handle them gently and build in breaks for any dog who finds the whole thing a bit much.

Nervous dogs get time to settle in and have a good sniff around before we start, and if a dog tells us they've had enough, we listen to them. If your dog gets anxious about grooming, let us know when you book and we'll plan a meet-and-greet, and any subsequent appointments around them.
