Earlier this month I looked after Belle for six days. This one was a little tricky — not because of Belle, but because she’s recovering from a knee op and on a strict diet.

That meant slow days, tiny walks and not many treatos. And the hardest part? You can’t explain to a dog that you’re only trying to help them. So I gave Belle extra gentleness, loves and reassurance.

We will be reunited in a couple of months 🥳

Let them enjoy their walks.

Let them take their time.

Let them sniff the same patch of grass for as long as they need.

Let them roll on their back and be a goof.

Let them run, explore, wander — safely, freely, happily.

One of the things I love most about the way I work is that I can let dogs be themselves.

No rushing. No clock‑watching. No squeezing a walk into a strict remote‑work schedule.

Just time, space, and patience — so your dogs can enjoy their walks as much as they need to.

Remember that feeling of being hurried out the door as a child — no pause, no space, no moment to just be?

Dogs feel that too when we rush their walks and rush their joy.

And when you slow down for them, they notice. They thank you in the only ways they know how - soft eyes, calmer energy, leaning into you, giving you little loves.

Charlie's first solo sit with Aunty Shan 🐶

Two hours. So many firsts.

First time just the two of us. First walk together (Charlie's mum doesn't usually ask sitters to walk her — I didn't take that trust lightly, not one bit). First dinner. First enrichment session. First time Charlie climbed on the sofa asking for back scritches. And the first time she lay down close to me.

That's everything, right there.

Two hours of firsts. One very full heart. Overnight booking this weekend and I am ready 💖

What happens at the end of an overnight sit? 👀🧽

Some might say I'm a little OTT with the cleaning but honestly? I think it would be rude for you to come home after a lovely holiday and have to clean up at all.

So I clean. Every single day I make sure everything is left tidy but the last day? That's when it goes up a level.

The shower screen. The sink. The toilet seat. Every surface that's been used — sprayed and wiped down thoroughly.

If I can find a mop and bucket, I'm mopping and hoovering too.

Your bed sheets and towels go straight in the wash, and if the sun's out or there's a dryer? I'm remaking your bed before I leave.

I've been told more than once that I clean like a pro and a few clients have even cancelled the cleaner they had booked for later in the week because there was simply nothing left to do. 😄

Because this was never just about looking after your dog. It's about respecting you, your home, and the trust you place in me every single time you hand over your keys.

Axel, Libre, Roo & Theo — Overnight Dog Care (Part 2)

After my little birthday break, I came back to the gang who were well looked after by other spare hoomans while I was away (their mum always gives me a few days off for my birthday, which I appreciate so much).

Then the heatwave hit… and it hit hard.

The poor doggies really felt it. We did our long morning walks early and skipped some of our evening short walks when the humidity was too much for them. They were panting, sleepy, low‑energy just trying their best in the heatwave. I felt so bad for them. I focused on keeping them cool, comfortable and happy. We were all sweaty, hot and absolutely zonked out together.

On the very few cooler days we did get, Roo and the gang were straight back to playing like a bunch of kids on a playdate, full of silliness and zoomies 😆

We’ll be reunited again in October 🥳
