Pooch's Paddock Welcome to Pooch's Paddock, 2 acres of fenced off grassland in Belton, DN9. A safe, secure, stress free space that you and your dog friends can enjoy!

The field is available for private use for half hour or one hour sessions, 7 days a week. * The field is accessed from King Edward Street, Belton, DN9 1QN.
*From the mini roundabout (near chip shop) go approximately 500m down King Edward St and the road begins to bend to the right.
*Just before the bend there are 2 lane entrances on the left, the first takes you to the paddock (immediately next to the bungalow with the conifer hedge - this is the entrance you need to go down). The second is Temple Gardens which is not the right one. (Lane entrance on what3words is dated.upsetting.costly).
*Drive up the lane and go past the first field, you will then see a stone entrance on the left where you need to pull in off the lane.
*Please park in a way to ensure you are able to leave the field safely, bearing in mind the next hirer may arrive and park whilst you are still there.
*Please do not block the lane.
*Please bear in mind this stone lane is a single lane. It has a passing point close to the road end and is only approximately 200m in length, therefore you can see clearly if there are any other vehicles to give way for.

Murphy had a second 1-1 today. The connection that the first sessions 1-1 training has fostered was clearly apparent. Dragging on his belly to get to scent has been replaced with eye contact and engagement. I'd say scent distraction has reduced by 50%. He did some super hunting as part of recall. We paired the recall cue and response with the reward of chasing a ball. We introduced Murphy to a place board in prep for retrieving and steadiness. We also began to build value in heel. A packed session with glorious weather and in a fabulous environment at Pooch's Paddock. Murphy is a super puppy to work with.

Oh my days! Does it get any better. Training Gundogs in glorious Autumn sunshine in beautiful surroundings at Pooch's Paddock
The first Gundog Circle this morning focused on steadiness in a retrieve, lining up, marking, and trusting the handler that there was something there if they followed that line.
A tiny tight circle of Bertie and Jasper so I took Hypatia to join in. Each dog got so much out of each exercise, appropriate to where they are on their training journey.
I'd forgotten how much I love teaching Gundog and doing it outdoors.
There will be another Gundog Circle next month.

🚧 MOBILE ROADWORKS ON THE A161 🚧 Works commence on Monday 14th September from the mini roundabout at the end of King Edward Street. There will be temporary traffic lights in place 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday. These works progress from the mini roundabout, over the motorway towards Crowle. If you normally travel via this route then there are warnings of delays during their working hours. If you travel from Scunthorpe then using the Althorpe/Derrythorpe/Beltoft route would be advisable. If I am made aware of any changes to the plan they have published I will update.
