Firstly, to those who already know, I want to say a huge thank you for your kind words and support.

Sadly after a 6 month health battle my mum passed away peacefully at 5:15pm yesterday.

I will be doing all I can to try and keep appointments and classes running.
I want to say thank you in advance if I need to rearrange or cancel sessions.

I will do my very best to make any changes as minimal as possible.

Many thanks to all my amazing customers.

**Celebrate Small Wins 🐶**

Dog training progress is not always made through big, obvious changes.

Sometimes progress looks like the tiny moments we could easily miss.

A quick check-in on a walk.
A few steps on a loose lead.
Choosing calm instead of jumping up.
Settling a little quicker than last week.
Looking at a distraction and then coming back to you.
Taking a treat in a harder environment.
Recovering faster after excitement.

These may seem like small things, but they matter.

Small wins show that your dog is learning, processing and building confidence.

When we notice those moments and reward them, we help our dogs understand what we would like to see more of.

Training is not about waiting for perfection.

It is about recognising progress as it happens.

So today, take a moment to notice one small win with your dog.

Celebrate it.
Reward it.
Build on it.

Small wins build big progress 🐾💙

What small win has your dog had recently?

**Client Question 🐶💬**

What would you like help with?

Sometimes the thing you are struggling with at home is something lots of other dog owners are wondering about too.

So, let’s open up a little question thread.

You can ask about:

🐾 puppy training
🐾 loose lead walking
🐾 recall
🐾 barking
🐾 adolescent dog behaviour
🐾 reactivity
🐾 confidence building
🐾 settling and calm behaviour
🐾 enrichment ideas
🐾 general training struggles

No question is silly, and you do not need to have everything figured out before asking for help.

Dog training is not about perfection.

It is about understanding the dog in front of you, making small adjustments, and building progress with kind, clear guidance.

Pop your question in the comments below and I’ll do my best to help 🐾💙

**Recall Reality 🐶**

A recall cue is a bit like a phone battery.

It needs charging.

Sometimes we teach our dog to come back when called, practise it for a while, and then assume the cue will stay strong forever.

But recall is not a one-and-done behaviour.

It needs topping up regularly.

Every time your dog hears their recall cue and comes back to something rewarding, that cue gets stronger.

Every time they hear it and nothing much happens, or they are called away from something exciting without a worthwhile reward, that cue can start to lose value.

So if your dog’s recall has become a little hit and miss, it does not always mean they are being stubborn.

It may simply mean the cue needs recharging.

Try to practise in easy places first:

🐾 in the house
🐾 in the garden
🐾 on quiet walks
🐾 on a long line
🐾 away from big distractions

Then reward every successful return.

That reward could be food, play, praise, movement, sniffing, or releasing them back to something they enjoy.

The more you reinforce the cue, the stronger it stays.

Keep charging the cue.
Reward the return.
Build recall step by step 🐾💙

**Puppy Socialisation 🐶**

Puppy socialisation is often misunderstood.

It is not about your puppy meeting every person and every dog they see.

In fact, too much too soon can sometimes create overwhelm, frustration or worry.

Good socialisation is about helping your puppy experience the world in a safe, positive and thoughtful way.

That might include:

🐾 seeing different people from a distance
🐾 hearing everyday sounds
🐾 walking on different floor textures
🐾 watching traffic calmly
🐾 exploring new environments
🐾 learning to settle around distractions
🐾 seeing other dogs without needing to greet them
🐾 building confidence at their own pace

The goal is not to make your puppy interact with everything.

The goal is to help them feel safe, confident and able to cope with the world around them.

Sometimes the best socialisation looks very calm and uneventful.

Watching.
Listening.
Sniffing.
Processing.
Learning.

Confidence grows through thoughtful exposure, not overwhelm.

So next time you are out with your puppy, remember:

They do not need to meet everyone.

They need safe, positive experiences that help them understand the world 🐾💙

**Why Sniffing Matters 🐶🌿**

Sniffing is not just something dogs do on a walk.

It is how they gather information, process the world and make sense of their environment.

When we allow our dogs time to sniff, we are giving them an important outlet for a very natural behaviour.

Sniffing can help to:

🐾 support decompression
🐾 provide mental enrichment
🐾 reduce frustration
🐾 encourage calm behaviour
🐾 help dogs process their environment
🐾 build confidence in new places

Sometimes we are so focused on the walk being about distance, pace or exercise that we forget how valuable sniffing really is.

For many dogs, a slower walk with time to sniff can be far more beneficial than a fast-paced walk with lots of pressure.

This is especially important for puppies, adolescent dogs, nervous dogs, reactive dogs and dogs who find the world exciting or overwhelming.

Sniffing is not wasted time.

It is learning.
It is decompression.
It is enrichment.
It is part of your dog’s wellbeing.

So next time your dog wants to stop and sniff, give them a little time.

Let them sniff.
Let them learn.
Let them decompress 🐾💙
