๐Ÿฆ Found a Baby Bird? Here's What to Do

It's common to come across baby birds at this time of year, but they don't always need rescuing.

๐Ÿฃ If the bird has very few feathers (a nestling):

If you can safely see the nest, gently place the bird back in it. Contrary to popular belief, parent birds will not reject their chick because it has been touched by a human.
If you can't find the nest or the bird appears injured, contact a local wildlife rescue or your veterinary practice for advice.

๐Ÿชถ If the bird is fully feathered (a fledgling):

It is often learning to fly and is likely being watched and fed by its parents nearby.
Unless it is in immediate danger, it's usually best to leave it where it is.
If it's on a road or somewhere unsafe, you can carefully move it to a nearby sheltered spot, such as under a bush.

โš ๏ธ If the bird is injured, has been caught by a cat, or is being attacked by other animals, it needs urgent help. Keep it warm, quiet and secure in a ventilated box while you seek advice from a wildlife rescue organisation or your vet.

๐Ÿ’š Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is give nature a little space. When in doubt, seek professional advice before intervening.

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿพ Summer Safety Tips for Happy, Healthy Pets!

As the temperatures rise, it's important to help keep your pets safe and comfortable during the warmer months.

Here are our top summer safety tips:
๐Ÿ’ง Keep fresh water available at all times and encourage your pet to drink regularly.
๐ŸŒณ Walk during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening, to avoid overheating.
๐Ÿพ Check the pavement before walks. If it's too hot for your hand to comfortably touch for five seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws.
๐Ÿš— Never leave your pet in a parked car. Even with the windows open, temperatures can rise dangerously within minutes.
๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Provide shade and a cool place to rest if your pet is spending time outdoors.
๐ŸŒผ Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact your veterinary practice immediately.

๐Ÿ“ž If you have any concerns about your pet during the warmer weather then please give us a call on 01353 658333.
