🐣 Found a baby bird? Here’s what to do 💙
Spring and summer often mean more young birds on the ground — and it’s not always a cause for concern 🐦🌿
Before intervening, take a moment to assess the situation 👀
🐤 Is it a fledgling (feathered, hopping, flapping)?
These birds are often learning to fly and are usually still being cared for by their parents nearby. In most cases, it’s best to leave them where they are 🏡
🐣 Is it a nestling (very small, few/no feathers)?
If it’s clearly fallen from a nest and you can safely find it, the best option is to gently return it to the nest if possible 🪺
🚨 When to step in:
• The bird is injured or bleeding
• It is in immediate danger (road, cats, dogs)
• It has been left alone for a long time with no parent activity
In these cases, place it in a warm, quiet, safe box and contact a local wildlife rescue or vet for advice 🏥💙
