๐ฃ Found a baby bird? Hereโs what to do ๐
Spring and summer often mean more young birds on the ground โ and itโs not always a cause for concern ๐ฆ๐ฟ
Before intervening, take a moment to assess the situation ๐
๐ค Is it a fledgling (feathered, hopping, flapping)?
These birds are often learning to fly and are usually still being cared for by their parents nearby. In most cases, itโs best to leave them where they are ๐ก
๐ฃ Is it a nestling (very small, few/no feathers)?
If itโs clearly fallen from a nest and you can safely find it, the best option is to gently return it to the nest if possible ๐ชบ
๐จ When to step in:
โข The bird is injured or bleeding
โข It is in immediate danger (road, cats, dogs)
โข It has been left alone for a long time with no parent activity
In these cases, place it in a warm, quiet, safe box and contact a local wildlife rescue or vet for advice ๐ฅ๐
Important reminders:
โ Avoid feeding or giving water unless advised by a professional
โ Donโt assume itโs abandoned โ parents are often nearby watching
When in doubt, call for advice ๐พโจ
