🐾 The Vital Role of RVNs During Sedation & Anaesthesia 🐾

When your pet is undergoing a procedure, our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) play a crucial role in keeping them safe.

From preparation through to recovery, our experienced RVNs carefully monitor your pet's vital signs, ensuring any changes are identified quickly. Their knowledge and clinical experience are invaluable in providing the highest standard of patient care.

At Cùmath Pet Surgeons, we use .it digital anaesthetic charts to track every stage of your pet's sedation or anaesthetic, creating a detailed record and helping us maintain exceptional standards of care.

Because when it's your pet, every heartbeat matters. ❤️🐾

🐾 Cool, calm, and cared for at Cùmath 🐾
All of our kennel areas are air-conditioned to ensure your pets stay comfortable, even on the hottest days 💙—just like little Mango, who’s currently relaxing in the cool 🐶❄️
Just a reminder to avoid walks and exercise during the heat of the day—early mornings and evenings are safest for your dogs.

✨🐾 Team Member Spotlight: Maisie! 🐾✨
If you’ve been into the practice, you’ve probably seen Maisie zooming around helping absolutely everyone! 💨
As our brilliant Clinical Assistant, Maisie keeps the day flowing smoothly – whether she’s supporting the team or making sure our patients feel safe, comfy, and very loved 💙
Her favourite job? Delivering first-class cuddles and TLC 🥰 (just ask the lovely Maizy, who got the full VIP treatment this week!)
We honestly don’t know what we’d do without her – Maisie is a superstar and a huge part of what keeps everything ticking day to day ⭐

May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, and we’re always grateful for the incredible work our VN team does!

They are highly skilled medical professionals who provide expert nursing care to sick and injured animals. Through their extensive training, veterinary nurses develop a wide range of practical and clinical skills, which they use every day in hands-on patient care. From assisting in surgery and performing diagnostic procedures, to monitoring anaesthesia and running tests, their role is vital in ensuring the best outcomes for our patients.

Whether they are carrying out complex clinical tasks or offering comfort and reassurance, their compassion and dedication are at the heart of everything they do for your fluffy friends.
We’re proud to celebrate our amazing nursing team this Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month! 🐾

Meet Barney! Earlier this spring, this brave French Bulldog came to us with a cervical disc extrusion that happened after a sneeze and left him paralysed in all four legs. Emergency spinal surgery was performed the very same day — and thanks to Barney’s determination, rapid intervention, and the incredible dedication of his owners during rehabilitation, his recovery has been amazing to see. 💙
Check out the videos below to follow Barney’s journey!
Sadly, French Bulldogs — along with Dachshunds, Labradors, Poodles, Spaniels and many other breeds — are predisposed to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). If you notice signs of neck/back pain, wobbliness or weakness in your dog, please contact your vet promptly, as early treatment can make all the difference.
