After seeing great results using a similar product last year we are excited to try out CattleZen this year. It’s a more concentrated product and also has the advantage of containing 2 pheromones, not just one! It requires a single application only and has so far show very good results in its ability to decrease stress in all classes of cattle. Get in touch if you would like more information

A NEW approach to cattle management!

CattleZen is a second generation pheromone technology featuring a dual pheromone formulation, in a convenient single-site, low volume application, designed to maintain calm in cattle of all ages.

It can be used in healthy animals to help maintain balanced behaviour and mitigate the negative impacts of stress associated with routine management practices, such as handling, transport and mixing.

So, if you or your clients are weaning calves, transporting cattle, introducing heifers to the parlour, or any other type of handling that causes unrest, then pheromone technology is worth considering.

Bluetongue virus… I’m sure everyone is now aware that there has been a case of bluetongue confirmed in the methlick area.

This wasn’t at a farm of ours so we don’t have very many details but believe it was found as the result of a tracing visit by APHA. This tracing visit had been done because this animal had originated from the south west of Scotland on a farm that has since tested positive for bluetongue. We have no information to suggest that bluetongue is circulating in this area so no reason to panic.. yet..

However.. we are all very worried about how close this is.. vaccination remains the only way to help protect your herd or flock from this nasty virus. We would suggest everyone should consider vaccination but careful consideration needs to be given to when this would be best done on your farm. Please phone us if you want to discuss.

Bluetongue is still causing concern to Scottish farmers. We do have Bultavo BTV 3 in stock today - please get in touch ASAP if you would like to discuss vaccination on your farm or to reserve some. Cattle need 2 injections 3 weeks apart but sheep only require one injection. It will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

We are also sharing bottles for small holders so get in touch if you want to be added to a sharing list!
