People ask why a Dogrobe has no leg holes.

Anyone who’s tried to fold a soaking Labrador’s front leg into a sleeve at 7am already knows.
Leg holes mean wrestling. Straps mean buckles under a muddy belly. Both mean a dog who sees the coat coming and leaves.

Our Dogrobes go over the head, the ties wrap round, and you tie a bow. That’s it. Nothing to thread, nothing to rub under the legs, nothing to pull wet fur through. Most dogs stand still for it, and a lot of them start waiting by the hook.

People ask why we’ve never switched to Velcro. Three reasons.

It fills with hair and mud and stops gripping by the second winter. It catches on ears, feathering and long coats. And it rips open every time your dog shakes.

A tie is a tie. It goes on snug, it stays on, and it’s still working after two hundred washes. Boring, we know. Boring is what you want at 7am in the rain.

In 2004, a working dog trainer with eight Labradors got tired of wet dogs, damp kitchens and the smell that never quite went. So Ann Playle designed a coat that dried them. Not a towel that slipped off, not a coat that got soggy. A robe that pulled the water out and kept the dog warm while it did.

That was the first Dogrobe. Twenty two years later it's still cut, sewn and finished in Britain, still tied rather than strapped, and still the one the professionals reach for.
