🌾 Grass Seed Season is Here – Protect Your Pets! 🐾

Grass seeds may look harmless, but they can cause painful problems for both dogs and cats. Their sharp shape means they can become lodged in paws, ears, eyes, noses, or even burrow into the skin.

⚠️ Watch out for these signs...
🐾 Excessive licking or chewing at a paw
👂 Head shaking or scratching at the ears
👁️ Red, watery, or squinting eyes
🤧 Sneezing or nasal discharge
🩹 Swelling, limping, or painful lumps

After every walk, especially through long grass, check your pet's paws, ears, eyes, and coat for any grass seeds. Keeping the fur between their toes neatly trimmed can also help reduce the risk.

🚨 If you think your pet has a grass seed, don't try to remove it yourself if it's embedded. Contact your veterinary practice as soon as possible, early treatment can prevent more serious complications.

🐾 Could your pet be suffering from heat stroke? Know the signs. ☀️

Heat stroke can become life-threatening very quickly in dogs and cats. Watch for:

🐶 Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
💧 Drooling or sticky gums
😴 Weakness, lethargy, or collapse
🤢 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🧠 Confusion, wobbliness, or seizures
🌡️ Bright red or pale gums

🚨 Heat stroke is an emergency. If you think your pet is affected:
✔️ Move them to a cool, shaded area
✔️ Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water if they can drink
✔️ Gently cool them with cool water and a fan
✔️ Contact your vet immediately while you begin cooling them

Prevention is always best! Avoid walking dogs during the hottest part of the day, never leave pets in a parked car, and make sure they always have access to fresh water and shade.
