🐾 WE’LL BE AT EDINBURGH DOG & CAT HOME THIS SUNDAY 🐾

We’re really looking forward to being there this Sunday and we’ll be bringing a little bit of The Dog Port with us!

Most importantly, we’ll have our Charity Wishlist Table, where you can choose and buy an item directly from our stall to donate to a dog currently in the care of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home 🐾

Every item bought from the wishlist will go towards helping the dogs who need it most, whether that’s something to keep them entertained, enriched, comfortable or simply make their day.

We’ll also have lots of our usual favourites available to shop, including:

🐶 Toys & enrichment
🦴 Treats & chews
🎾 Fun things to keep busy noses and brains occupied
🛍️ Accessories
🐾 A selection of our favourite products for everyday life with your dog

So come along, say hello, have a browse and, if you can, help us spoil some of the dogs who are still waiting for their forever homes.

We’ll see you there! 🐾

Dog of the Week: Cindy Lou

This week, we’re doing things a little differently. Instead of featuring one of our regular visitors, we’re using our Dog of the Week to shine a light on a rescue dog who is still waiting for her forever home.

Meet Cindy Lou, a 2 year old Bulldog Cross with a huge personality and an even bigger zest for life. 🩷

Cindy Lou is a fun loving, bouncy and excitable girl who absolutely loves being involved in everything. She’s playful, affectionate and full of character, but she’s also still learning that not every situation needs maximum excitement!

She’s looking for an experienced owner who understands large bully breeds and feels confident handling a strong, powerful dog. Her new family will need to be patient, committed to her ongoing training and willing to help her learn the ropes.

Cindy Lou loves playing, rolling around like a wiggly worm and chewing on her toys. She also really enjoys enrichment such as LickiMats and filled Kongs, which help her relax and wind down.

She’s looking for an adult only home where she can be the only pet, with her own secure private garden and someone who can provide plenty of company, particularly while she settles in.

Cindy Lou may be a little bit of a bull in a china shop, but underneath all that excitement is a comical, loving girl who has so much to give to the right person.

She doesn’t need just any home. She needs her person — someone experienced, patient and ready to give her the time, training and understanding she deserves.

Could you be Cindy Lou’s forever family?

Cindy Lou is currently looking for her forever home through Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home ~ Please visit her profile and read her full requirements before enquiring.

Let’s help Cindy Lou find the person who is going to love her for exactly who she is.

We're so excited to be partnering with our local pet store, The Dog Port, who have gone above and beyond to support the dogs in our care and dogs across Edinburgh! 🐶

To celebrate their 3rd birthday, they've created a wishlist for both our resident dogs and our pet food bank. Whether it's something for a dog still waiting for their forever home, or a much needed item for a dog and family in need, every donation makes a real difference.

The Dog Port will even be joining us at Community Day this Sunday! Come along to their stall and say hello.🎉

We are so grateful to The Dog Port for helping us support even more dogs in our community. Thank you! 💚

🐾 Dog of the Week: Henry 🐾

This week we’re celebrating a decade of Henry.

Henry is a 10 year old Goldendoodle who has just celebrated the big 1-0, marking a whole decade of Henry!

He was bought as a puppy in Kent, although his PAWrent admits they didn’t quite realise how far away Kent was when they made the journey, all thanks to having absolutely no sense of direction!

Henry is the gentlest boy who absolutely loves a cuddle on the sofa and is firmly convinced that he’s a tiny 3kg lap dog, despite actually weighing around 30kg!

When he’s not snuggled up on the sofa, Henry loves playing with his ball, going for long walks and rolling around happily in long grass. 🥹

He’s also a big foodie, with peanut butter pleats and ham being two of his absolute favourite treats.

And for anyone wondering about his fancy name, Henry Higgins was named after the professor from My Fair Lady!

We’re so happy to celebrate a whole decade of Henry and all the joy he’s brought along the way. Happy 10th birthday and congratulations on being our Dog of the Week, Henry!

🎈 THE DOG PORT TURNS 3! 🎈

Our birthday is on 1st September, but we’re starting the celebrations this weekend!

Our Weekend Birthday Boxes are back, £25 worth of goodies for just £15. 🎉

But this year, we want our birthday to be about something a little more important: welfare.

Our birthday wish is to help a dog still waiting for their forever home. 🐾

We’ll be sharing more about our new Charity Wishlists over the next few weeks, making it easy to donate something that’s genuinely needed by dogs in rescue.

So keep your eyes on our Instagram… there’s lots more to come!

Three years of The Dog Port and this year, we’re celebrating by giving back. 🐾🎂

🐾 Dog of the Week: Jack 🐾

This week, we’re celebrating a very special member of The Dog Port community, the lovely Jack!

Jack is a 10 year old Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever cross who has had quite an incredible life. He was originally a Guide Dog, but had to retire due to epilepsy. He was then adopted by his Mum, where he continues to live a full, happy and active life. ✨

Jack still experiences seizures, but that certainly doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. He’s also become quite the little celebrity, with an amazing 11.6K followers on X! He’s even met up with some of his followers when they’ve visited Edinburgh, including on three separate occasions.

Those who know JackTheLab3 will tell you what a gentle and sweet boy he is. His calm nature has also made him a wonderful foster brother to many Guide Dogs, including puppies, helping to show them the ropes and providing a lovely influence as they grow and learn.

And when Jack isn’t being everyone’s favourite foster brother or meeting his many followers, his favourite activities are much simpler, eating and sleeping!

His favourite treats? Hairy rabbit ears… although apparently fox p**p is also very high on the list!

Jack is such a wonderful example of a dog who has overcome challenges while continuing to live life to the fullest. We’re so lucky to have him as part of The Dog Port community.

Congratulations, Jack, on being our Dog of the Week!

Cool for the summer 🌊

Apparently Edinburgh has decided to have an actual summer — and Porty is looking pretty good in the sunshine.

For the dogs, though, hot days are probably better suited to shady spots, plenty of water, beach dips and taking things a bit slower. Early or later walks, less charging about in the midday sun and knowing when they’ve simply had enough.

We’ve got plenty of cooling and summer bits in the shop if you need them, plus fresh water for thirsty pups passing through.

Sandy dogs, as always, very welcome. 🐾
