I tried to post this a day or two ago but something went wrong half way through so trying again. Happy hound canine massage is closed at the moment for clients and referrals however I'm always happy to listen to problems and give advice where I can about any aspect of your dogs muscular health. Get me through messenger is probably the easiest way. I want to say a huge thank you especially to all my furry clients over the years for letting me treat you and help you to feel better. Lots of times you had no idea what I was doing, getting all up in your business half an hour after we had first met, but you put your lovely little bodies in my hands and trusted that as your mum or dad was there too it must make sense and it would all work out in the end. I also of course have a heartfelt thank you to the human side, mums and dads and other carers who found out about clinical canine massage and brought their beloved pets to me, entrusting their precious dog to my hands. Beleive me when I say it was a privilege to be in a position to get to know your precious dog and be able to help them, thank you. The days an owner told me of some improvement in movement, behaviour, sleeping pattern, breathing, playing or that someone had commented on how well the dog seemed or that they jumped in the car or onto the couch/walked up steps without hesitation/picked up a toy to play with that had been in the verge of getting chucked cos they just didn't play anymore....those comments are etched in my heart. That I had played a part in getting a dog to the point where they felt better - that genuinely was priceless and ensured I told and continue to tell anyone who will listen...clinical canine massage therapist is genuinely the Best Job in the World.

heres an interesting thought. I wonder how many of us deliberately teach our dogs this ? Great idea

Puppy (and dog) training is more often than not about actively doing things: lead walking, recall, tricks, obedience, agility...

🤍How often do you work on just doing nothing though? 🙃🤍

We often get asked for help with dogs that bark or jump at their owners whenever they stop to chat to a neighbour, answer the phone, pay at the till in a shop or cafe, and so on.

To prevent this habit from developing, make sure you spend some time just practising being content with a void of activity, too!

I'm sharing the post from Canine Massage Guild about the publishing of the report on the first clinical research on Canine Massage Therapy. I was a very small part of this during 2019 and finally the results have been analysed and published. 🥳 very proud

Background Clinical canine massage involves muscle tissue manipulation and fascial release techniques to rehabilitate injured soft tissues. Quantitative efficacy data are lacking. This cross-section...

Well after closing at the end of October 2020 'for a few weeks' I am now open again for appointments from existing customers - ie those whose dogs have already seen me prior to November 2020. Send me a message with your preferred times and I will get back to you with my availability.

I will be contacting new customers, working my way through the list so hold tight if we have spoken any time in the last year and I added you to the waiting list. I will contact you to arrange a first appointment.

Stay safe everyone, please wear your mask at your appointment until we are settled in the clinic 2m apart, hand gel provided. If you are suffering any of the known symptoms of covid please call to rearrange appointment.

Expert verdict's catalogue just came through the post and I see their extra long runners are a fantastic price just now (sizes range from approx 6foot by 2foot at £19.95 to almost 10foot by 2 at £34.95). Getting runners is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to help your dog if you have slippy floors ie wooden, laminate, some tiles etc. Get them down the hall, at every threshold where they have to step up, down or in at (usually double glazed doors have a threshold like this) where they stand to eat and around their beds especially if they sleep on a raised thing like human couches or beds.

You won't see the majority of it, as its only more obvious (and more prone to immediate injury of course) when they run, but every time they walk on a slippy surface their muscles have to tense. Thats fine once or twice but imagine every step you take being across an icy track..... every step, every time you walk about a place you spend the majority of your time and you will start to understand how fatigued the muscles get leading to potential for injury and joint problems. Its important at thresholds due to the leading leg slipping every time they cross, around beds as until the muscles have warmed up a little they are more prone to injury and of course if your dog races down the hall to the bell or visitors their legs will be skiting about all over the place.

If you get get a 'safe track' around the house for them they will be very grateful. Putting a slippy mat on top of a slippy floor is, of course, no good to dog nor human so make sure the mat is rubber or non slip backed so it can grip the floor.

Hope everyone and dogs are all doing ok. Just a reminder that I'm still closed for 'normal' business just now due to the covid however if you see your dog is struggling, get in touch as I am continuing to do 'emergency' appointments. Take care everyone

If you are looking for a gift for a person, a couple, a family and if they have dog(s) or cat(s) you might want to check these out. Meant to be xmas decs but they will be up all year. Different backgrounds, different hair etc for the people, different breeds and colours and wee angel wings if appropriate. Unifury is the company. This is the second time I've ordered, last time it was a tshirt. Quality is really good and I feel the prices are fine. Prepare to lose an afternoon as you browse through changing and adding details. I have other stuff on order from Giftymize and will let you know how their stuff compares.

I hope everyone is well and continues to stay well. Although under the regulations I am allowed to stay working under tier 3, I have decided to close Happy Hound Canine Massage for a few weeks to help in the ongoing struggle to keep the covid at bay. At the moment I am intending reopening Monday 23rd November unless of course my area has moved into tier 4 or higher. I am going through my diary day by day contacting those of you with upcoming appointments to rearrange or keep a note to contact you with a new appointment once I know I'm back up and running so dont worry if you haven't heard from me yet. Although I won't be seeing clients face to face (face to muzzle?) I'm still just a phone call, text message or email away if you want to reach me. Stay safe people, janis
