Hi, I'm Hilary and I have a lifetime love of animals. I have 15 years dog handling experience, having worked in boarding kennels for two years and a further 13 years as a veterinary assistant to Maurice Hunter BVMS, MRCVS and also within The West End Veterinary Partnership. I have always had a love of dogs having had dogs as pets in my home from birth and going on to owning my own. Currently I hav

e a Hungarian Vizsla called Riley who you can see pictured and have in the past had a variety of breeds ranging from Spaniels, Labradors, Miniature Dachshunds, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and also a good old Mutt called Muffin. I had a short break away from working with dogs while I raised my two children and worked as a childminder in that time but always had a passion to return to working with dogs. Having had some experience of grooming while working at the boarding kennels, I decided I would like to expand on this. I therefor enrolled and received training at the renowned ScotGroom - Scotland's Top Training School. I am aware that some dogs can become anxious when attending the salon, but as the sole groomer, I believe I can build a good relationship and understand the needs of both the dog and its owner.

The government has now updated for Grooming and unfortunately with the new guidelines I can’t continue as I was.
Dogs can be groomed for welfare only which means clipping off matted or very heavy coats . This could be interpreted in many ways but for me it’s if a dog requires the coat clipped off completely because it is suffering in some way or is not coping. Claws needing clipped that are at risk of hurting pads. I will be in touch with you all if you are due in but I ask you all to think if it is absolutely essential that your dog is groomed. I will be at the end of the phone as the last time for any advice needed.
I was closed around 8 weeks last time and you all did brilliantly at keeping your dog’s groomed. Not one dog really came back with any welfare issues. I will treat every case individually though.
Stay safe everyone and I will be in touch, keeping you posted with any changes. X

Update for you all.
I’m working at the moment. I’m waiting to hear from Alex Cole Hamilton because as it stands Pets At Home are open for welfare grooms but when I spoke to one of their groomers he agreed that a dog coming back for it’s next appt was for the sake of its welfare.
However there is a lot of disagreement over whether we should or shouldn’t be open.
Alex Cole Hamilton agrees that it’s a very grey issue and is open to so much interpretation that he will get an answer for me ASAP from parliament. He knows I’m currently working.
He is aware if I close I could lose custom to Pets At Home .
So if you have an appt just now come along as normal and I will let you know if this changes.
Stay safe all.

Happy Christmas from me to all of my great customers and doggies . Please stay safe.
I want to thank you all for your support again this year.
The guidance at the moment looks like I will be remaining to work in the level 4 lockdown but I will keep you all updated if this changes.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Unfortunately my landline is playing up and I’m not receiving messages left. If you need me use the mobile number. Hopefully fixed soon.

Hi with the new restrictions I have to ask for you to collect your dogs at the time asked as I can’t have 2 dogs in together. I need to clean up between appts as well and I’m running to a very strict schedule to accommodate everyone. X

Hello everyone.
I have hopefully rescheduled everyone. I’ve spent my day working out appts and I’ve sent everyone texts. I hope I’ve not missed anyone out but feel free to message if I have. It’s not been deliberate. Very busy times.
Love and hugs to my doggies

Hi there
Just an update.
The Scottish Government gave groomers the go ahead to do welfare grooms.
For example if a dog has a very thick unmanageable coat prone to matting ,a dog likely to overheat or a dog that has an illness affecting its coat.
I started back on Monday doing the dogs that I feel fit into this category. I’ve now had so many texts and phone calls people assuming I’m open.
I’m only booking just over a week ahead as the guidelines are changing all the time.
Please be patient as I’m working long days to try and catch up.
I have everyone’s name that has missed and appointment and I promise you I will be in touch.
Please have a wee look at the guideline photos as things have changed for drop offs.
Thanks and hugs to all the doggies.
Hilary

Hi I just want to show everyone that this is still the governments view although there are so many councils and animal groups adding their own opinions making it very hard to know what’s right and wrong.

Hi all.
I know you are all being so patient and some of you have heard of other groomers that are trying to return to work.
I’m still following government guide lines and as lock down hasn’t been lifted I feel I’m not in a place to re open. Hopefully it will be announced we can start opening soon.
Still feel free to get in touch for any advice.
When I return I plan to work on the basis of contacting the owners of the dogs that missed out first and work my way through the list. I will do my best to work long hours just incase lockdown was to be reinforced.
It’s maybe worth considering taking your dogs coat shorter than you normally would just incase this happens.
Stay safe everyone. X
