Sad news this morning your big harlequin girl Leera passed away. Our big goofy girl has moved on to join the doggies in the sky…
a huge, goofy girl who thought the sofa was made for her, got excited about every meal, loved her walks, and had those funny “conversations” with us by answering back with those Great Dane howls. Dogs like her leave such a big presence in a home that the silence afterwards can feel enormous.
It’s striking that she had breakfast, went out into the garden, and was simply lying there. While none of us can know exactly what happened, it does sound as though she may have passed very quickly. We can just hope that means she wasn’t frightened or in prolonged pain.
Leera wasn’t defined by the way she died. She was the dog who made us laugh, who expected food to arrive on time, who claimed the sofa as her own, and who answered you every time you spoke to her. Those are the memories that tend to stay.
She was deeply loved, and she clearly knew she was part of the family. We will miss you dearly.
