A little puppy love at Snazzydot! 🐾🤎

Introducing the gorgeous Pip, an Australian Labradoodle, and our lovely wee Emmie, a Miniature Poodle. 🥹💕

Two beautiful little personalities, both finding their paws in the wonderful world of grooming.

Pip has already mastered the art of posing, while Emmie managed to leave us over 200g lighter in fluff! 😂 Quite impressive for a little lady who only weighs 6kg!

Lots of cuddles, a little pampering and two very gorgeous puppies.

Millie’s turn on the hand-stripping table ✂️🐾

Yesterday Millie worked with her dog Ralph, a Border Terrier with a fantastic coat for hand stripping, under the guidance of the brilliant Claire from The Grooming Studio by Claire Macgregor

Claire is an award-winning hand st****er and grooming judge, so it was such a valuable opportunity for the girls to spend the day refining their technique and learning from her. I ( Elle Hutchy & Co | Edinburgh Life ) joined in with the theory and teaching throughout the day too. I’ve done quite a bit of hand stripping myself since qualifying, so it was really useful to revisit the technique and learn from Claire’s experience.

Hand stripping is a traditional grooming technique used on certain wire-coated breeds. Rather than clipping the coat, the dead outer hairs are removed by hand, which helps preserve the coat’s natural texture, colour and weather-resistant qualities.

For the right coat, it can leave a beautifully neat, natural finish without softening the coat in the way repeated clipping sometimes can.

It also isn’t suitable for every dog or every coat, which is why understanding coat condition, growth cycles and when not to strip is just as important as the technique itself.

Ralph was a brilliant little model for Millie and, in true Border Terrier style, brought plenty of character to the day 😂🥰

We’re really pleased to be continuing to build our hand-stripping knowledge within the team and will be opening up more hand-stripping appointments at Snazzydot.
