It's fete season - whatever the weather says! We're going out and about with the abulance and the team and would love to see you if you're planning on going to any of these. They're a riot of stalls, dog shows, tug of wars (tugs of war?🤓), ice-creams , beer tents, music and all the fun for the fair! More details below if you'd like them. We hope to see you! 💜🚑🍦🎪🐾

Beautiful little Travis, a female marginated tortoise, has a growth deformity that means she has trouble moving about and rocks side to side as she tries. We used orthodontic cement and plastic spoons (yes, really! 🧐) to help balance her out, She's moving much more freely now and the spoons will prevent her damaging her shell on the side that was taking the strain. Meet majestic Neeps, a peregrine falcon who had a swollen toe. We did X-rays to check if the bone was damaged, which happily it wasn’t. It looks likely to be a spider or snake bite that has caused swelling. Occupational hazard for a falcon! 💜

🚑 Van Visit to Orpington to see rescue guinea-pig Fuzz, to x-ray his teeth and burr them down because he was having trouble closing his mouth.

Following treatment, and with the correct diet of plenty of hay at his lovely new home, they should remain a good length now.

❗Dental elongation (overgrown teeth) is common in guinea pigs and causes stretching of the facial muscles. The teeth at the top can grow up through the tear ducts, whilst the teeth at the bottom can grow down through the jaw - and the tongue can also become trapped beneath the teeth. 😓

🌞Scorchio!!! Here's Kevin (Lily's lovely boy) enjoying a frozen treat - Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries frozen in a small ice cube tray (dog shape optional!). It got a big thumbs up. You could also try a slow feeder bowl with fruit frozen in it as a cool treat. Stay cool like Kevin! ✌️💜

This adorably fluffy duo is Louie and Lenny. Louie has some problems with his eye and came in for a grid keratotomy today. He will have eye drops with serum from his own blood to help it heal 🧐💜 This pair have recently enjoyed a change in fortune, finding a loving foster home by Shrewsbury Rabbit Rescue. Well deserved, boys!
