Next in the A to Z Breed Series…
T is for Tibetan Terrier 🐾

Despite their name, Tibetan Terriers aren't actually terriers! They originated in Tibet, where they were kept as companion and monastery dogs and were highly valued by the people who owned them.

Their thick double coat can be clipped unlike the typical double coat of a collie or retriever, but can get thick and unruly if left unchecked either skipping routine grooming appointments or management at home.✂️✨

They're also a breed that is commonly mistaken for a Cockapoo 👀 Their distinctive square-shaped face, long ears and flowing tail are features many Tibetan Terrier owners specifically ask us to retain when they're groomed.

Keeping those breed characteristics doesn't mean they can't have a practical haircut — it's all about finding a length and style that works for both the dog & their lifestyle and their owners grooming routines🛁🐕

A lovely breed with a really distinctive look, once you know what you're looking at! 🐾

DID YOU KNOW IT IS LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO RESTRAIN YOUR DOG IN THE CAR?

Not only is it a legal requirement but from a safety point of view it is paramount. We all wear a seat belt, so should our pets.

You can use -

🐾dog guard - fitted securely in the boot or behind the front seats

🐾seat belt tether - this must be clipped to a suitable harness, never ever use with a collar.

🐾Crate or carrier - ideally this should be anchored down in case of an accident

🐾 Car Seat - these are only suitable for smaller dogs, again a seat belt tether should be used.

My diary is full for full grooms/hair cuts until Friday 16th October - only 1 appointment left, rolling over to the following week

Puppy and short haired grooms are available from Wednesday 30th September - 2 appointments have become available

Remember there are only 2 grooms left until Christmas on an 8 week schedule. My diary is open right up to my Christmas break, from 19th December.

Next in the A to Z Breed Series…
S is for Shih Tzu🐾

Small, affectionate and full of character, the Shih Tzu was originally bred as a companion dog for Chinese royalty.

Their coat can be kept in a variety of styles, but even when clipped short it still needs regular maintenance to prevent tangles and matting. Regular brushing at home, alongside professional grooming every 8 weeks, helps keep their skin and coat healthy. As they get older they are prone to thinning and greasy coats so a little TLC is needed in their golden years✂️✨

A very familiar face on my grooming table over the years but shih tzu visitors are dwindling lately, I've only seen a handful this past year. So if you know a shih tzu in need of grooming point them my way, I'd love to see more of them! 🥰 🐶🛁

🐎 BURGHLEY IS BACK… AND SO IS THE TRAFFIC! 🚗

Burghley Horse Trials are taking place 3rd–6th September, which means increased traffic and delays around Stamford.

If you have an appointment this week, please allow extra time for your journey, even though it's just down the road! ⏰

Late arrivals and collections can have a knock-on effect on the rest of the day, so please plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time.

Leave earlier, arrive relaxed, and let's keep the doggo's happy on the way to their appointment! 🐾
