You feed him because he chose to remain at your side.”

My Pack of German Shepherds
(short story.. they’re all cool in this weather)
After they all went for a good run and stretch out very first thing this morning (while it was still cool) they came back absolutely knackered.
Good cardio
Good stretch
We gave them 60 minutes to recuperate and get their breath back and heart rate down
They then had their breakfast of raw beef tripe, fried beef mince, salmon oil, boiled eggs, yogurt and vitamins in their Fully Air Conditioned Kennel Block in this hot weather.
30+ degrees outside 🔥
16 degrees inside 🥶
This evening they’ll get their supper consisting of a raw chicken carcass, boiled chicken breast, rabbits ears & kibble

Many thanks and gratitude 🙏 to my Personal Martial Arts Student Steve for fitting the top of the range air conditioning system in their kennel block (a year ago today), Neil for organising and implementing the cardio session, Ronnie for organising the kennel rotation, Dave and Steve for organising the food and diet regime, Gail for the cleaning program, and other Military Veterans and members of the Team who volunteer and contribute to the running of Seven Stars Sanctuary, Kennel Siebensterne, and K9 international

Wer Und Wulf is not another German Shepherd association.
It is a fellowship of Keepers — united by loyalty to the breed, respect for its heritage, and belief in the bond between shepherd and handler.
We honour the living.
We remember the fallen.
We preserve the legacy.

K9 International Training Academy

22/04/2026

At the heart of the Wirral, Great Britain, K9 International’s Training Academy—based at The Seven Stars Sanctuary—offers a unique and life-changing opportunity for military veterans through its fully funded Canine Management Courses.

Designed specifically for those who have served, these programmes provide hands-on experience working with a dedicated pack of highly trained therapy and protection German Shepherds. Veterans don’t just attend—they become part of a supportive, purpose-driven environment where teamwork, trust, and personal development are at the core.

The academy delivers a structured pathway to recognised certification and qualifications across a wide range of canine welfare and management disciplines. Drawing inspiration from the standards of the Royal Veterinary Corps’ military dog handling programmes, course modules include:

* Canine welfare and first aid
* Nutrition and grooming
* Kennelling and exercise routines
* Equipment use and safe handling
* Obedience and behavioural training
* Relaxation and therapeutic interaction
* Tracking, walking, and protection work
* Safe transportation and operational care

Each course is tailored to the individual, making it especially beneficial for veterans living with PTSD, those seeking to rebuild confidence and routine, or anyone looking to develop new skills and a deeper connection with dogs.

More than just training, this is a pathway to renewed purpose, wellbeing, and community.

Led by Master K9 Trainer Brian McKinney, and supported by a network of respected organisations—including K9 International UK, the British Therapy K9 Association, and British K9 Warriors—the academy stands as a testament to the power of rehabilitation through canine partnership.

Empowering veterans. Transforming lives. Building futures—together with K9s. 🇬🇧
