⚠️RECALL ALERT: YEARS RECALLS ALL FRESH DOG MEALS⚠️

Years has announced a voluntary recall of all Years fresh dog meals with immediate effect.

The decision follows a growing number of reports of dogs developing sudden bilateral dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca, or KCS) whilst fed the food.

According to Years, its investigation has identified a potential link with buckwheat, an ingredient used in all of its fresh meals since the start of this year.

If you currently feed Years
Stop feeding all Years fresh meals immediately.
Do not feed the meals to any other animal.
Follow Years' guidance regarding the recall, refunds and collection of unused food.

Symptoms to watch for
If your dog displays any of the following symptoms, contact your veterinary surgeon as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly reduce the risk of permanent damage.

Redness or inflammation of the eyes
Thick eye discharge
Frequent blinking or squinting
Pawing or rubbing at the eyes
A dull, cloudy or dry appearance to the eye surface

It’s been so hard. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. Although I’m self employed and I need to earn a living I will NEVER put your dogs health at risk. It’s not just the training it’s the travelling too and from. What happens if you break down in this heat? I will always make a decision on classes based on animal welfare 💯. Thank you all for your understanding and putting your dogs first ❤️

It has been an incredibly hard summer for everyone dog related and we have been cancelling and rescheduling when the temperature is too high to search safely.

Searching inhibits panting (dogs cooling system) and also raises core body temperature. Be careful about find it games in the heat for this reason.

This week do be aware of the temperature after night fall as it may be too hot to run dogs especially short nose breeds, puppies and senior dogs.

Heatstroke can hit fast and is often deadly as organs shut down when body temperature rises. Vets have been seeing dogs as late as midnight this summer for heatstroke

Vet advice: If your dog gets over heated cool them with cold water all over (not a towel) and get to emergency vet asap. Time is critical to survival.

Keep safe 🙏

There will definitely NOT be any classes Monday and Tuesday this week and possibly Wednesday too.
Please rest assured I have the best interest of your dogs at heart and hate not being able to run the classes but I will not put any dogs at risk for the sake of earning a living. Please keep your dogs safe in this weather it is going to be exceptionally hot so lots of frozen lick mats and very early morning walks. Don’t forget even in the evening those pavements can still be very very hot.

I’m keeping an eye on this. Classes will not go ahead if the temperature is as predicted. I will send notifications out...
