This is gorgeous Bobbie, who came in to be neutered and was doing so well at his post op check as you can see here. It’s like he hadn’t had surgery.

Here are some top tips to prepare your rabbit for surgery:

-Bring a friend! Bunnies form strong bonds with their housemates and it can be unsettling to be separated. If your rabbit lives with a friend, please being them long so that they can snuggle together and provide reassurance!

Please bring some of their regular food, hay and favourite fresh foods - It is super important to get rabbits eating as soon as possible after surgery and offering familiar foods can be very helpful. Likewise, please let us know if your rabbit prefers a bottle or a bowl to drink from.
- Your rabbit will need a suitable enclosure to return to after surgery - It is best to remove any dusty bedding that may stick to wounds. Whilst they are still feeling a bit sleepy, rabbits may not maintain their temperature as well as normal. An indoor enclosure for the night after a surgery is preferred.
Monitoring your rabbits droppings is really important after anaesthesia. Make sure they have a nice clean enclosure to come back to so that fresh droppings can be seen and counted.

Tonight is Eastbourne's bonfire carnival, so loud bangs are expected. To help your pet through these stressful noises it is best to be prepared:
-close windows and drawer curtains
-put the TV or radio on to drown out the sound
-distract them with treats or chews (hiding their food so they are distracted whilst eating it).
-keep cats inside
-walk your dog before dark or once the carnival is over
-do NOT take your dog to the carnival, as they will likely be scared and may run.
