🐾 TOP TIP TUESDAY: Stop repeating yourself!

Does your dog ignore you until you’ve said their name 10 times? 😂

Try this instead!

🐶 Say their name ONCE.
🐶 When they look at you, mark it with “yes!” and reward them.
🐶 Practise when there are fewer distractions before expecting it around other dogs, people or exciting smells.

If you keep repeating a cue, your dog can learn that the first few times don’t really matter!

Small steps make a big difference. 💚

Save this for your next training session!

🐾 NEED TO KEEP YOUR DOG BUSY?

Enrichment doesn’t have to mean buying loads of expensive toys!

Try:

💚 Scattering part of their daily food allowance in the grass.
💚 Hiding treats around a room for a sniffing game.
💚 Offering a suitable stuffed food toy.
💚 Teaching a simple new trick.
💚 Providing appropriate chews for their individual needs.

Always supervise activities where needed and choose items suitable for your dog’s size, chewing style and health.

And if your dog loves a good chew, don’t forget our Pawsome Dogs chew boxes! 🐶

Thoughtfully put together with dogs in mind, with options for puppies and adult dogs.

📩 Drop me a message to ask about the current boxes and prices.

🐾 MYTH-BUSTING FRIDAY

“My dog knows exactly what I’m asking, he’s just being stubborn!” 🤔

Sometimes, what looks like stubbornness is actually something else.

💜 The environment is too distracting.
💜 Your dog hasn’t fully learnt the skill.
💜 They’re worried, overwhelmed or overexcited.
💜 The reward isn’t worth competing with what’s happening around them.

Before labelling your dog as naughty, ask yourself:

Can they do this here, right now, in this environment?

Training isn’t about winning a battle. It’s about helping your dog succeed.

Let’s make learning easier for them! 🐾
