Hi I’m Beth, and I do all the social media and marketing for the business as well as prepping dogs for Kelly on a Tuesday.

Time at The Debonhair Dog? - I have had involvement behind the scenes for around 6 years now, mainly doing social media.

Favourite thing about your job? - I enjoy seeing the work the ladies produce and finding ways to show case what we do here by sharing with our followers.

Favourite breed? - Spaniels and Labradors.

Hobbies? - horse riding and spending time with family.

Hi, I’m Jayne and I am a dog stylist at The Debonhair Dog.

What made you want to be a groomer? - I worked at Wilkinsons mechanidising stock for 26 years. When Wilkinsons closed, I really didn’t want to work in an office again and fancied a change. Having dogs myself and enjoying being around them I looked in the area for a vacancy within a groomers. Shortly after meeting Kelly, I started My training and soon after qualified.

Time grooming? - 2.5 years

Favourite breed to groom? - Spaniels

Favourite thing about your job? - Working with the dogs and building relationships and trust with them.

Hobbies? - I enjoy dancing, like chocolate, walking my dogs and going to the gym.

Any likes and dislikes? - I really find it very difficult and emotional when a dog I have groomed passes away, I find this the saddest part of my job after building a relationship and attachment.

Hi, I’m Kelly the owner of The Debonhair Dog.

What made you want to be a groomer?
I had a dog in which I took to the groomers and realised actually I want a go at this to see if I could groom him the exact way I wanted him to look. So, I looked for a training school then found one and trained on my days off from my full time job and qualified level 3 City and Guilds. After qualifying I started my own business along side my full time job, until the day came where I had enough custom to dog groom full time. The rest is history.

Time grooming? - 13 years.

Favourite thing about your job? - I really enjoy a transformation from when a dog comes in to a dog leaving, looking completely different.

Favourite breed to groom? - Shih tzu and Cockerpoo.

Hobbies? - Walking my dogs and Reformer Pilates.

Can you tell us any likes and dislikes? - I enjoy consistency and building relationships with both owners and dogs, although I do find it really hard when loosing dogs whether that be because they’ve passed away or not returned.
Grooming can be really physically demanding, and can really take its toll on our body, but is so worth it when returning dogs recognise you because of the bonds we have formed and the strong relationships with their owners.
