🐴💕 Half Term Fun at Pony Magic! 💕🐴

Hope everyone is having a lovely half term! 🥰

The Pony Magic ponies are certainly making the most of it, enjoying lots of Pony Club fun with their fabulous loaners! 🐎❤️

Sunday saw Poppy and Red heading off to a Mini & Junior Rally, and today it was the turn of Poppy and Meg, and Bella and Pip, who enjoyed a full day at rally! 🌟

And what a cracking little pony Pip is turning into! 🥹💕 With a confident rider on board, she is absolutely bang on point and really showing us what she’s capable of! We still have a little way to go before she’s quite ready for our more novice young people, but she’s making fantastic progress. It’s all about giving her the time, patience and experience she needs to grow in confidence herself. We’re so proud of how far she’s come! 🐴❤️

Unfortunately, while the ponies and their loaners were out having all the fun, the human part of the Pony Magic team wasn’t quite so lucky! 🤣 We were at County Hall attending training on Restorative and Relational Practice. Not quite the same as spending the day with the ponies, but valuable learning that we can bring back to the work we do with our young people. ❤️

It’s lovely to see our ponies out enjoying themselves, gaining experience and making memories with their loaners. A huge well done to everyone involved, and thank you for giving our ponies such wonderful opportunities! 🥰🐎

Enjoy the rest of half term, everyone! 💕✨

🐷🐷🐷 Three Little Piggies Have Arrived at Pony Magic! 🐽💕

Just a little heads-up to our local East Leake community, particularly horse riders and drivers! 🐴🚗

We now have three adorable little piglets at Pony Magic! 🐷❤️

As many horse owners will know, horses aren’t always the biggest fans of pigs! They can be particularly sensitive to their smell and may become frightened or spooked when passing them.

Our piglets are currently living in a paddock on the main road side of Pony Magic, so we just wanted to make everyone aware.

🐴 Horse riders: Please be mindful when riding past, as your horse may react unexpectedly.

🚗 Drivers: Please take extra care and slow down when passing horses along this stretch of road, giving them plenty of space in case they become startled.

Hopefully, with time, the local horses will get used to our three new little residents! 🐷🐷🐷

Thank you everyone for helping keep our riders, horses and road users safe! ❤️

🌳💨 Well, that was an eventful afternoon at Pony Magic! 🐴✨

The winds today have brought down a MASSIVE branch from one of our ash trees, landing right across the yard and completely covering the cabin door! 😳🌳

So, instead of a relaxing Saturday afternoon, we’ve been busy clearing branches, chopping and tidying everything up, making sure we’re all ready to welcome our wonderful young people back on Monday morning! 💪❤️

🐴 The horses, however, think Christmas has come early! 😂🌿

They’ve been absolutely LOVING all the fresh ash leaves and branches!

🌿 Did you know ash trees can have some lovely benefits for horses?

🐴 Natural enrichment – Browsing leaves and branches encourages natural foraging behaviours and helps keep horses entertained.

🌿 A source of fibre – Ash leaves provide additional fibre and variety alongside their normal forage.

💚 Natural nutrients – Ash leaves contain minerals and beneficial plant compounds.

🦷 Encourages chewing – Nibbling on leaves and small twigs gives horses an opportunity to express their natural browsing instincts.

🌳 A tasty treat – Common ash is generally considered safe for horses to browse in moderation, provided the branches are healthy and correctly identified.

So while we’ve spent the afternoon working hard, our four-legged residents have been enjoying their very own all-you-can-eat leafy buffet! 😂🐴🌿

Every cloud has a silver lining… although we’d rather the tree stayed where it was! 🤣🌳

All cleared up and ready for another wonderful week of Pony Magic! ❤️✨

This strikes home for me hard!!!
💔 actually made me cry

These are the hundreds of children including my own right now who is completely out of school and has very little education provided right now.

My child is a top set child who has been completely destroyed by mainstream - he was “mainstream” before type 1 diabetes- before they pushed and said he was adhd - before they traumatised him and therefore trigged Tourette’s syndrome

Breaks my heart

So when I say I have lived experience….. I have unfortunately

Want to join our Autism & Self-harm Research Steering Group? You will work with researchers at the University of Nottingham on a project to co-develop and test a new self-harm assessment tool called the Self-Harm Questionnaire - Autism (SHQ-A).

Who are we looking for?
• 5 autistic people (formally diagnosed or self-identifying)
• Representation from different age groups (12–17, 18–59, and 60+ years old)
• Lived experience of self-harm
• Currently living in the UK

What does it involve?
• Attending a 2-hour meeting (online or in-person) approximately every 3 months until the project ends in June 2029. This may also involve doing some work before the meeting (like reading a document).

• Co-designing research materials (such as surveys and interview questions), shaping the new assessment tool, and making sure the project is accessible and neurodiversity-affirming.

• You will be compensated for your time and expertise for each meeting.

We only have 5 spaces available, so we are asking people to fill out a short form. This helps us check that you meet the criteria and make sure the group includes a diverse mix of voices from the autistic community.
