The first named storm of the season. High winds, heavy rain, plus the clocks going back this weekend. So you know what that means for equestrians…

…absolutely nothing. Apart from the fact you will probably need a second coat once the first gives up on actually stopping the rain and instead becomes more of a sponge.

Someone who doesn't have horses will say, "Oh, you're not going out in THIS weather, are you?"
No, Susan. I'm just wearing three coats and carrying a headcollar for a laugh.

You will still be outside, still be mucking out, turning out, feeding, haying - just now in the dark, in wellies instead of trainers and rain dripping off your nose.

Equestrians are a different breed.
Hardy, determined, ridiculously resilient…
And quite possibly the only people who will stand in a field during a weather warning, soaked to the underwear, and genuinely worry whether their horse might be a bit chilly.
