Today is the day to support the pet shop that supports your pet. Pop into your nearest participating store, pick up something for your pet, speak to a member of staff, and experience firsthand why local independents need to be treasured.

National Pet Shop Day is this Saturday, and new research shows exactly why it matters.

Independent pet shops are built on passion, knowledge and care for the animals and owners they serve. Many have been trading for decades, with some serving their communities for over 50 years.

But they're under real pressure from online competition, rising costs, and customers who get advice in-store but buy elsewhere.

Our own research found that 67% of pet owners say independent shops are important to their community, and 57% would be upset if theirs closed. Yet only 12% actually name one as their main source of pet products.

That's the gap National Pet Shop Day wants to close. This Saturday 11th July, we're asking pet owners to turn that goodwill into support by shopping local and showing these businesses that they are valued.
