Ears up and attention!

In regards to the recent stories about animals being abused by walkers and sitters.

Please understand this isnt all of us.

You wouldn’t trust a baby sitter if your child was fearful of them.

Apply this to your pets; if you have ANY doubt about the ability of your pet carers you need to address it.
Any questions how big or small should be answered.
I had one client ask me “what makes you a professional compared to everyone else?”
A great question, because anyone can get insurance and be a walker, a sitter, a trainer…

We should be allies - not enemies.
Ask for recommendations.

Please be mindful not about prices, not about availability.
But about the bond with your pets, the experience and referrals they have from people you may know.
Trust your gut, trust your questions - nothing is too silly for the right pet business!

Stay safe

STAY COOL 😎
I don’t just mean the cool clothing and sunglasses 🕶️
But keeping your pets cool and safe during the hot days! 🥵
Cool mats, frozen licky-mats, water sources being fresh, frozen veg and fruit…these are a few examples!
Tux the cat and the girls Shady and Ghost; they love a frozen lickilix treat.
Did you know: 0% fat natural yoghurts can also be frozen for a healthy ice cream treat (always research and ask about your pets dietary choices with your vet)

“I’m scared of bunnies with red eyes.” Grow up.

We rescue tons of bunnies with bright red eyes. Sadly, people are often freaked out by these ruby eyes, as it makes them appear “scary”.

But we at know that this just means they’re extra special, so wanted to share some facts about Red Eyed Whites or REWs:

1. Their eyes are red because they’re albino - though only pure white rabbits can be considered albino!

2. This started as a genetic mutation but then quickly some breeders began to breed them exclusively since they’re often the healthiest bunnies.

3. Since they are albino and/or lack melanin (so light bounces off their red blood cells) they’re extra sensitive to the sun. They get sunburned easier and direct sunlight hurts their eyes!

4. Albino rabbits have fewer rods in their eyes than other rabbits, so they scan things extra due to having a slightly slower processing time.

5. When they’re calm, their eyes turn lilac. They become bright red when stressed or excited - whenever their blood pressure is raised.

6. Many REW breeds were designed for industrial, or meat, use which means that they’re often larger than your “typical” rabbit and more docile.

Please share this post. Our hope is to break down the stigma around ruby eyed bunnies, so people will not preemptively see them as “scary”, but as absolutely fantastic!

They truly see the world through rose tinted lenses.

Be aware and safe

It's a warm one today and only going to get hotter according to the weather report ☀️

Remember: a dog has never died from missing a walk but heatstroke can be deadly.

Stay safe everyone 🐾💙
