"☀️🐶 HOT WEATHER = EXTRA CARE FOR OUR DOGS (and other pets too!)🐶☀️
The temperatures are soaring, and whether you enjoy the sunshine or not, it can be dangerous for our four-legged friends.
Here are some top tips for keeping your dog safe during the heatwave:
💧 Make sure fresh water is always available. If they aren't big on drinking water, add some extra to their meals, so they can stay hydrated.
🌳 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening, and check pavements with the your hand: if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for them.
🏠 Provide plenty of shade and cool indoor spaces - try a cool pad if you have one, and if you have a portable air con unit, now's the time to set it up! If you need to leave them home alone, think about how hot their space may get, you may need to leave air con on, provide access to more areas or arrange for someone to come and visit them (this is also a service I offer, but asking a neighbour to pop in is a quick, easy and free solution!)
🚗 Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes, and in these temperatures, leaving the windows open won't help.
🏖️ Some dogs love to sunbathe! However, they aren't always good at predicting the effects of that and may only think to move inside when they're already uncomfortable, which in this heat could be too long. So, it's important to limit their time outside.
🥳 No dog has died from missing a walk. If you don't manage to get them out for a stroll and a sniff, try some training games at home instead! This is a great time to teach them a new trick - comment below if you'd like some ideas!

Look out for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting or collapse.
Stay safe and keep those tails wagging! ❤️
