"I have recently joined the vet team as maternity cover, I come from New Zealand where I have spent the last 4.5 years practising on the west coast of the North Island. I am excited to start work here and see everything that the region has to offer. I grew up on a farm which had 2000 ewes and about 300 breeding cattle, we also had 14 dogs some working dogs and 3 labradors as well as 2 cats. So quite the herd of pets!
I am a runner and completed my first ultramarathon earlier on in the year in February. If you’ve got any suggestions for good trails to run, I’m super keen to find some!
Very excited to meet everyone and see how things are done here in the UK!"

We’re delighted to invite our farming clients and friends to the highlight of our winter calendar: the Tyndale Vets' Annual Farmers' Curry & Christmas Party Night!

This year's event will be held on Thursday, December 3rd, at The Barn at Berkeley. We sadly have outgrown our usual haunt at The Berkeley Arms, so we are trying a slightly larger venue. This event is our way of saying thank you, to you, for your hard work throughout the year and a chance to relax and socialise ahead of the busy festive season. We know many of farmers really value this opportunity to get out, off the farm and let your hair down with us, without a sick cow interrupting!

A sad scan on routine this morning, farmer was pretty happy she was going to be in calf as he hadn’t seen her bulling in the 2 cycles since AI (at 21 and 42dd). You can see lots of grey speckly fluid around the calf. There should be only one smooth white membrane that the calf is floating in. Here you can see irregular membranes floating around. Other troubling signs are no heartbeat on the calf. It should be 56 days old which would measure at 55mm. From measuring its crown - rump length it’s only 30mm long, suggesting it died at approx. 45 days old.

We've been terribly remiss in not introducing Freddie sooner!! He's been here ages now! Or so it feels. Anyway meet Freddie one of our latest additions to

"I grew up in South Wales but have lived in the West-Midlands for the last 14 years before recently moving down towards Bristol. I have stayed true to my Welsh roots though and still support Wales in the rugby. I studied at the University of Nottingham and have spent the last 5 years predominantly working in Mixed practice. In 2024, I took the year off to go travelling with my girlfriend where we spent a chunk of time living in a campervan in New Zealand as well as backpacking through Polynesia, South East Asia, Sri Lanka and East Africa. For the last 12 months I have been working across different parts of the UK as a locum.

In my free time I enjoy getting out and about either on foot or on my bike.

You may also find me catching up with friends on the golf course and pretending I know how to play.

My main interests and experience are in the beef and sheep sectors but I am looking forward to getting stuck back into some more dairy work."

Freddie's been here a fair few months already, and he's settling in so well. Drop us a like to welcome him to our community please! 💕

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Day!

Celebrating our receptionists today and any other day means recognising that they are the heart of our practice.

But today is about more than just our own incredible team, but the hard-working receptionists keeping farm practices running smoothly across the country.

From juggling busy morning phone lines (and boy are they busy) and coordinating urgent farm visits and medicine orders. They are a reassuring voice to clients worried about their animals, our reception team handles it all with unwavering patience and professionalism.

FULLY FUNDED WORKSHOPS FOR FARMERS:

The Wales Farm Safety Partnership have teamed up with the Wales Air Ambulance and EMRTS to offer a number of first aid and tractor focused fully funded workshops for farmers and farm workers.

Topics covered will include:
CPR, catastrophic bleeding, crush injuries, burns and responding to emergencies in remote locations.

Eight workshops (4 dates) will be held across Wales during October and November, and booking will be available via the Farming Connect website. Attendance at these workshops also contributes towards Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS) Universal Action 4 (UA4) Continuing Professional Development requirements, allowing participants to claim eligible CPD hours.

🐄 Thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday evening for our TB discussion with Sarah Tomlinson.

It was great to see such a good turnout, with lots of questions and plenty of useful discussion. We hope everyone who came along found the evening beneficial.

We know TB testing can be a stressful time, so please remember we’re here to help.

If you’re unsure about anything, give the practice a call or have a chat with your tester. Please ask questions - that’s what we’re here for.

💡 Don’t forget, TBAS visits are FREE. If you’d like some extra advice and support around TB on your farm, contact the practice to book a visit with one of our TBAS advisors — Emily, Caitlin or Kit.

They’re here to offer practical advice, talk through your individual situation and help you look at ways to manage TB risk on your farm.
