☀️💜 HEATSTROKE WARNING – KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE THIS SUMMER 💜 ☀️
With temperatures rising, it's important to remember that dogs can suffer from heatstroke very quickly.
✂️ Regular grooming helps keep your dog comfortable by removing excess coat, dead hair, and mats that trap heat. However, please take extra care when bringing your dog to and from appointments.
🐶 Top tips to keep your dog safe:
🌡️ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
🚗 Never leave your dog in a parked car – even for a few minutes.
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water.
🌳 Keep them in the shade and avoid hot pavements.
✂️ Keep up with regular grooming, but remember that some coats help protect dogs from both heat and sunburn.
⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red gums
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Confusion or unresponsiveness
If you suspect heatstroke:
❄️ Move your dog to a cool, shaded area.
💦 Pour cool (not ice-cold) water over their body, especially their chest, paws, and tummy.
🌬️ Use a fan if possible.
☎️ Contact your vet immediately—heatstroke is an emergency.
💜 At Mos Mutts Dog Groomers, your dog's welfare always comes first. If it's extremely hot, please allow extra travel time and ensure your dog is cool before arriving. We may have to adapt our grooms and times accordingly and keep a close eye on temperatures in the salon through out the day to keep all our visitors safe.
