🐾 Cannabis and Dogs – What Every Owner Should Know 🐾

As cannabis products become more common, accidental poisoning in dogs is something all owners should be aware of. There are increasing reports of Dogs finding discarded substances.

Dogs are highly sensitive to THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, and symptoms can appear within 30 to 90 minutes of exposure.

⚠️ Common Signs of Cannabis Poisoning in Dogs:

🐕 Staggering or appearing “drunk”
🐕 Lack of coordination and stumbling
🐕 Extreme sleepiness or lethargy
🐕 Glassy eyes and dilated pupils
🐕 Dribbling urine or loss of bladder control
🐕 Excessive drooling
🐕 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🐕 Heightened sensitivity to sounds, movement, or touch
🐕 Tremors, seizures, or collapse in severe cases

Symptoms can last anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, and while fatalities are uncommon, the experience can be extremely distressing for your dog.

🚑 If you suspect your dog has been exposed to cannabis:

✅ Contact your veterinarian immediately.
✅ Be completely honest about what your dog may have consumed.
✅ The information helps your vet provide the correct treatment quickly and rule out other potentially life-threatening conditions.

Prevention is always better than cure. Keep all cannabis products, edibles, oils, and va**ng products securely out of reach of pets.

When I can’t sleep. I meditate and chant. Or I write.

‘I love my dog & I think he loves me, until it comes to the settee’.

When people talk about Hell, they imagine fire, torment and endless suffering.
Personally, I think we’ve already had a decent preview.

Nobody gets out of this life alive.
Not one of us.

You’d think that would make us kinder.
Make us look after each other.
Make us realise we’re all just temporary passengers on the same sinking ship.

Instead, we spend our time arguing over things that started centuries before we were born.
Fighting over borders drawn by dead men.
Fighting over flags.
Fighting over gods.
Fighting for politicians who wouldn’t cross the road to p**s on us if we were on fire.

Everyone’s eager to tell you what you should die for.

Very few ever tell you what’s worth living for.

People chase money.
Houses.
Cars.
Status.

But everything comes with an expiry date.

The house will belong to someone else.
The car will rust.
The money will vanish.

And eventually, so will we.

I live for my dog.

And yes I know, he’s temporary too.
He’s got an expiry date.
And so do I.

But what we mean to each other is worth more than any mortgage, pension fund or shiny German car sitting on a driveway.

He’s a chapter in my life.

I’m his entire story.

His whole world wrapped up in one slightly flawed, ageing human who occasionally drops food and knows exactly where the biscuits are kept.

So while the world continues shouting itself deaf over politics, religion and whose imaginary line on a map is the most important.

My dog and I will continue our own battles.

Over biscuits.

Over who gets the best spot on the settee.

Over whether one walk is enough when clearly six would be better.

Those seem like far more sensible things to fight about.

And when it comes to the settee…

I’ll let him win.

I always do.
