I have a condition called NF2-related schwannomatosis.
NF2 causes tumours to grow on your nerves. (This is the most basic way to describe it)
Most people with NF2 have Bilateral Vestibular Schwannomas.
I have Bilateral VS.
Now I'm lucky in a way, because I've known since my teens I had this condition. So have had 1 or 2 MRI scans every year to keep a close eye on this condition.
In 2020 (with no warning) they told me it was time to have my right side removed. At the time a new (ish) drug Avastin was being used and I instead insisted I be put on this drug. I had to go through egg collection as the drug can cause infertility and then started my Avastin journey.
I have always been fairly sensitive (drug wise) and I personally had endless side effects. The worst being my vocal cords were affected. I started having voice trouble in 2021 and eventually the Dr's believed me that it was the Avastin. Its taken me until last year to feel more confident in my voice and for people to fully understand me again.
I still stand by the fact the drug was the correct choice. Even though my voice will never be the same. And I'll always have that struggle.

In January I started having strange facial pains, first quite mild, and then increased and became unbearable, I would without warning get a horrid electric shock through my face, sometimes bad enough to make me sob. After some back and forth it was thought possibly that I had a condition Trigeminal neuralgia, for those of you that have been suffering for any longer then 1 month my heart goes out to you. It is the most unbearable pain nicknamed (su***de pain) and I can fully see why. But I still had no clue why this was happening.

Now to today, I switched NF2 teams recently (for reasons I won't divulge on here) and met my new Cambridge Team in August. Wow, I was blown away by the organisation and how prepared they were (given it was a last minute appt.
After being fobbed off and fighting for years, I finally felt heard.
If I needed surgery I wanted the surgery I wanted not the surgery being pushed on me.

I met my new surgeon and he asked me to give a summary of what was going on, he went onto explain that likely my larger tumour on my right was pushing on a nerve and causing the facial pain.
He told me we could do the surgery I had wanted and remove some of the tumour to hopefully alleviate the pressure on the nerve and also would mean the tumour was smaller and not as close to the brain stem.
I couldn't believe it, I went in ready to fight, I'd come on my own and knew I'd have to be tough, and here was someone listening and answering all my questions effortlessly.

Although no official date it will likely be November my big brain surgery ,to say I'm terrified is an understatement, but I do feel very positive. I'll be documenting every step and showing the good bad and ugly.
I ask that if you can donate please mention Hannah so I know this journey is helping ❤️ Cure NF2 Foundation UK & Europe

New little edition ❤️ found Miss Olive Pidge (named by my non blood nieces) on the road sitting up.
I assumed she had been hit and pulled over to stop her being crushed more.
She was bringing up alot of fluid, thankfully her legs and wings are fine. She's very skinny and had alot of liquid in her crop (sour crop) I've carefully gotten that all out and she's had some natural yoghurt. Sleeping now but seems OK.
Hopefully can get her back on solid food soon ❤️

Ellie ❤️ (Ellie Belly)

I'd be doing her a disservice not mentioning Ellie.
I used to work for a company who booked vets to go to clients homes to put their pets to sleep.
We often got calls for help with people who had tried to rehome and had no luck and felt this was their only option.
Now thank goodness, we worked with a wonderful vet (please check her Insta https://www.instagram.com/pandavet.services?igsh=bjBkY3VlYTJ1bnd0 )
Usually any of these cases she would be able to find a home or a foster at least.
Ellie was this ladies parents dog, and they had sadly both passed away, she brought Ellie to the UK but felt she wasn't settling and she didn't really have the time for her.
I asked the owner some more questions and asked for photos, now when she showed me this fluffy bean I said well... I could actually foster this one. She's female (Austins preference) and small, very friendly so I thought I could likely win her round with the cats (who are extra dog friendly).
Fast forward we met in York (see photo) and took Ellie back to Durham!
She pretty much slotted in quite quickly, she and Austin were not best friends and she frequently felt the need to put him in his place. I knew she would be happiest as a sole dog, same as she was previously.

Finding the right match was endless! Noone fit the bill and I wasn't willing to risk her needing to move again.
Finally a vet nurse friend got in touch and asked if his 22 year old daughter who was studying in Glasgow would be considered.
I'll admit I was delighted at first and she seemed wonderful, then the doubt crept in... she's so young, she's studying, what if one day she wants to travel? So I spoke to Abigail and we slowed things right down, and I got to know her and her lovely room-mate Nishka. My doubts very quickly were put to rest and we arranged a few meets. They couldn't of gone better. I knew this was the right home and I couldn't be happier with how much love this little girl receives.
Not one day do I feel a moment of regret. Ellie has never been happier, she gets ALL the attention 😂 endless toys. A dog who really has found her forever Mummy and Abigail her little soul dog ❤️

Thank you Abigail Gerrard and Nishka (won't let me tag) for giving her exactly what she needs I couldnt be more delighted that she found you ❤️❤️

Doing so much better already 🥰

Different loves this week, I help out a wonderful couple with their chickens and dogs if ever away.

They mentioned one of the chickens (Pluto) had a cough and her comb was flopped over and had turned black. We spoke to a wonderful vet I know who quickly diagnosed it as Gape worm. The whole flock had their first dose yesterday (thankfully all others ok but best to do them all)
I will post another video in comments but she seems to have perked up already ❤️
