A lovely piece of news to end the day… (in fact it’s been quite a lovely week and it’s only Tuesday!!)

Bentley & Bear has been named a finalist in the Groomer of the Year - Cat Grooming category at the Animal Star Awards 2026. 💜

My business is changing a little and I am gradually becoming feline focussed and as such it’s incredibly rewarding to see cat grooming and handling and welfare being recognised in this way. Helping cats feel more comfortable, in a calm setting is at the heart of everything I do when I groom holistically.

Thank you to every client who has trusted me with their cats (dogs too, I’m not leaving you beauties out) and has supported Bentley & Bear since 2020.

Whatever the outcome, I’m very proud to have reached the finals. 🐾✨

Time to buy a new frock I think…

I am many things. A cat groomer. A pet sitter. A business owner.

A reel creator is not one of them. 😂

I finally caved and just gave CapCut a try because everyone keeps telling me I need to make more video content.

I have neither the time nor the patience for it, but I have to admit… for a basic 1st attempt I like this one. 😻

Be gentle. I’m learning.

📻 A little bit of exciting news…

I’ll be joining BBC Three Counties Radio this afternoon from 3pm to chat about holistic cat grooming and a recent Animal Star Award nomination for Bentley & Bear.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to talk about a subject I’m passionate about and help raise awareness of feline wellbeing and care.

I’m equal parts excited and nervous, but looking forward to flying a flag for the cats this afternoon! 🐾❤️

Louie and Ziva are both clocking up the years now. 🐾

All grooming should be kind, but as our dogs get older, their needs can change. Stiff joints, reduced stamina and the little aches and pains that come with age can mean a gentler approach and a little more flexibility.

Today was Ziva’s first groom with me, after a meet and treat a while ago while Louie is a familiar handsome face in my groom room.

Both went home clean, comfortable with tidy nails and being the very lovely dogs that they are. ❤️

A bath, de-shed and belly clip for this gorgeous boy today, leaving him looking and feeling his best.

The assignment was to stop being so handsome.

He failed spectacularly.

I haven’t mentioned this publicly til today, but I’ve recently been notified that Bentley & Bear has received yet another Animal Star Award nomination — this time in a specialist cat grooming category.

As many of you know, feline grooming has become an increasingly important part of my work over the last few years, so it’s especially meaningful to see that recognised.

It’s just a nomination at this stage, but I’m incredibly grateful to whoever took the time to put Bentley & Bear forward. I think I know who it might be. 🥰

This handsome chap is Cooper, who came to see me this morning for his first birthday groom. 🎉🐾

Some cats arrive and you immediately know they’re special, and Cooper is definitely one of those. He’s one of those cats that your heart just connects with.

Today’s groom was all about keeping him comfortable and maintaining the beautiful coat his family works so hard to care for. Cooper had a claw clip, a belly clip, a hygiene clip, a little tidy of those fabulous fluffy pantaloons, and the removal of just a couple of tiny knots.

And credit where it’s due — his family do a wonderful job of grooming him at home. Regular maintenance makes such a difference, allowing me to focus on the little practical trims that help keep him comfortable and clean rather than tackling significant matting.

At just one year old, he’s already growing into a magnificent Maine C**n, with a lovely temperament to match his impressive size and fluff.
