This was what greeted me this morning when I turned over the page of my calendar to September.
I cannot express how much I miss all those furry little faces who were always so happy to see me. Who were my best friends whose families became like family.
Please don’t think I don’t ever think of you all because I do. Daily.

My very good friend and all round wonderful and dog mad lady has moved from walking to grooming and is currently taking on new clients. Best get in quick cos I just know her books will fill up fast.

Today I officially completed my Dog Grooming Diploma 🎓🐶

After lots of hard work, learning and plenty of fluffy faces along the way, I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be welcoming new clients from Tuesday 18th August 🐕🐶🐾

That’s it folks… Helen & Hounds is officially done and dusted. 🥺💛🐾

And obviously… I couldn’t bow out without stealing Kerry’s post and her pics one last time.
Why change the habit of a lifetime? 😂

This girl has been my rock, my daily company, my dog-walking bestie, my “are we actually doing this in this weather?” partner-in-crime.

She’s trudged with me through wind, rain, sun, sideways sleet, tears, tantrums and the occasional toilet mishap (her… FAR more than me 🤣).

To say I love this girl is the understatement of the century.
Her no-bullsh*t, straight-to-the-point approach is a breath of fresh air (well… most of the time! 😅).

I’m going to miss our chats, our chaos, our moans, our belly laughs and—of course—your gorgeous pups, Kerry.

Sometimes life just comes along and gives you a right old shoogle, and this afternoon was one of those times.
Far too much emotion to properly articulate or process yet.

But we still gave Lennie and Rex the best send-off, and with Cooper’s wee furry niece tagging along for her first—and last—Helen & Hounds adventure, we had plenty of very welcome distractions to soften the blow.

And of course, Nicola arrived in true Nic style: bringing gifts and a heart full of kindness. She’s been such a regular friendly face with the gang, and honestly… we all just love you, Nics. 💛🐾

A fabulous sunny morning up in the hills with Olive and her humum tagging along for the chaos. And—shock horror, given this week’s Niagara Falls theme—today was Pringle’s last walk, so the quivery lips were out in full force.

This boy LOVES a muddy puddle and a swim in equal measure, regularly shoulder-barging his pals out the way like he’s auditioning for Gladiators: Canine Edition just to fling himself into the nearest body of water.

Just the bestest boy who ever boyed.

Naturally this was followed by an emotional doorstep goodbye to his mum while I transformed into a blotchy, snotty mess. Standard.

My pics from this morning aren’t the best (hard to focus when you’re crying and yelling “Pringle, no, NOT THAT PUDDLE!”), so I’ve chucked in some highlight reels because honestly—he’s just so bloody photogenic.

Brilliant news today — Freddie got the all-clear after his wee op and is officially back on walking duties! I was starting to panic he’d miss my last day, but the drama llama stood down at the final hour.

The green light came a bit late for him to rejoin his usual chaos crew, so he hopped in with the littlies and Lala instead. And honestly? It was perfection. A gentle, calm amble in the most gorgeous late-afternoon sunshine… like the universe gifted him a soft landing back into the madness.

Welcome back, Freddie — we’ve missed your face. 🥰🐾✨

Four beautiful distractions crashed the afternoon bunch today — Shelby, baby Cali, and their two humans tagging along for one last Helen & Hounds experience.

Cali also enjoyed her very first off-lead moment… which I may or may not be in trouble for instigating. 🙈
But honestly — better pics, better chaos, totally worth the telling-off.

The whole gang were absolute superstars, and Frankie took his role as “welcome committee” VERY seriously. Endless play, endless zoomies, endless cuteness.
A perfect little send-off with the loveliest crew 💛🐾

This morning started with tears… and LOTS of them. A full triple-whammy of leavers: Scruffy (a proper Helen & Hounds OG), beautiful Willow, and the dynamic duo Buddy & Blu all having their last walk with me. 🥺💛

Kind words and hugs are the absolute worst for setting me off, so by the time we actually hit the hills I was a full-on soggy mess.
Thank goodness for Nikki from Ruff and Tumblzzz and my wonderful bestie Kerry from Mind the Dugs — between the pair of them they kept me distracted just long enough for the waterworks to stop and for me to appreciate the snow-covered hills… and the pure chaos that happens when two packs collide. 😂❄️🐾

It really was an action-packed walk of the best kind, and I think we gave them all the send-off they deserved.
Love you guys so, so much. 🥰🐶💛

Cooper only joined the gang in April, but honestly… it was love at first sight. This boy is the sweetest, friendliest, goofiest soul — and his family are genuinely some of the nicest humans on the planet.

He settled in instantly, becoming firm pals with Otis and Frankie and forming the ultimate chase-buddy trio. And of course, true to Cooper form, he managed to locate at least one ball on every single walk. His other special skill? Admiring your shoes while you’re trying to walk — a true gentleman.

His blossoming romance with Olive has also been one of the highlights of my year — she absolutely adores him, and the feeling is very much mutual. Young love at its finest 🥹💛

He also treated me to a display of his “beautiful” swimming skills very early on… let’s just say he will not be entering any graceful swim competitions any time soon 😂😂

Today he enjoyed the most wonderful last walk, reunited with Otis one final time thanks to lovely Lyndsey from Tailwag Treks with Lindsey bringing him along. It felt like the perfect full-circle moment for my boy.

I know he’s going to be in fantastic hands with his new walker, and I can’t wait to see this good boy charm his new pack the way he charmed ours.
