π₯π₯ PIPER π₯π₯ THE FRORKIE π
We had a session with Piper last night to help with her reactions to other dogs, but it quickly became clear that we also needed to change quite a few things at home, as there was an element of resource guarding involved.
After introducing her to the dogs and giving her owners the chance to change how they handled her, we showed Piper that there was no need to kick off around the other dogs! π―
And as for Dash leaving when YOU decided, little oneβ¦ that wasn't happening! π€£π€£
Neo was outta there tho π€·ππ
This is exactly why having good dogs of my own is so important to the work I do. π
How can we properly understand and help change a dog's behaviour around other dogs if we never actually see that behaviour play out in a controlled, real-life situation?
My dogs aren't just there to look good on a walk. They're an essential part of the process, helping me assess behaviour, provide appropriate social experiences and give owners the opportunity to learn how to handle their dogs in situations that matter.
Of course, it's about choosing the right dogs for the job and managing every interaction appropriately. It's not about throwing dogs together and hoping for the best!
Now we have a plan in place to start changing both Piper's and her owners' lives for the better. π―π
Good training isn't just about telling owners what to do. It's about having the experience, the right dogs and the ability to put that training into practice in the real world. π§‘
