October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this year Parkside Vets are taking on a challenge. With 1 in 7 women in the UK (and 400+ men a year) being diagnosed with Breast Cancer it is something that has affected Parkside personally a few times.

This year we are supporting Breast Cancer Now, a UK based charity who support patients currently going through a diagnosis and they research to find better treatments for the future.

This October, we will be taking part in "Wear It Pink" day on 23rd October. This means if you visit one of our branches you will see staff all wearing something pink. This helps to raise awareness and encourage people to self check. Early detection is very important!

Then on the 25th October a group of us will be taking part in a 13 mile Wear It Pink Walk. Last year one of our Vets, Catherine MacLeod, a very loved and missed colleague passed and we want our walk to help us honour Catherine.

We also want to celebrate with our Nurse Freya who is 1 year clear.

Catherine worked mainly in our Arbroath Surgery and Freya in our Barnhill Surgery so our walk is from Barnhill to Arbroath!

Breast Cancer Now is a charity that has supported both Catherine and Freya and our hope is that by raising money for BCN, we can do our part to help make sure that there are many more treatments and forms of support available for anyone diagnosed.
