Brown Street Kennels We're here to help re-home dogs to their forever home and reunite stray dogs. Our page is monitored during weekday opening hours.

With a team of dedicated animal lovers all dogs in our care are given VIP treatment. Visiting is by appointment only. If you are looking for a dog as a pet, then Brown Street Kennels (which is part of the Council’s Animal Control Section) may have the perfect canine pal for you. Every year about 250 dogs are successfully re-homed from the kennels. Most of the dogs have been brought to the kennels by their owners because they are no longer able to look after them. Prospective new owners are assessed to ensure they are responsible people able to give the animals the attention they deserve. A charge is made to cover kennel costs. This is subjective to change and should be discussed with the kennel staff. All dogs re-homed from Brown Street Kennels are microchipped.

🟢 Update - Fantastic news, Dolly has found her forever home 🎉🥰🤗🏠

🚨 LONG TERM RESIDENT SHOUTOUT: COULD THIS BE DOLLY’S CHANCE? 🐾

Dolly has officially been with us longer than any of our other resident dogs, and she is more than ready to find her forever couch!
At roughly 1 year old, this stunning Lurcher girl is full of youthful charm, boundless energy, and a massive heart.

✨ A Few Quick Facts About Dolly:

⚡ Zoomie Expert: Give her a secure area to run, and watch her fly! She loves stretching her long legs.

🦋 Social Butterfly: She gets super excited seeing other dogs and is always up for a play.

✨ Full of Potential: She is a bright, eager young dog ready to learn and grow with the right guidance

🏡 Her Ideal Home:

📖 Sighthound-Savvy: As a young sighthound, she needs adopters who know the breed and are excited to continue her training.

🌳Active & Outdoorsy: She's high-energy and needs a family committed to regular exercise and mental enrichment.

🏠 Household Setup: She may be able to live with other dogs who are of a similar size and can put up with her high-energy play style (pending kennel assessments). She must be in a cat-free home, and is best suited to adult-only households or those with older children (12+).

Dolly is such a rewarding, wonderful companion for the right family. If you have the time, experience, and energy for a brilliant young Lurcher, please reach out! 🙏

📞 Call the kennels directly to find out more about our rehoming process and book an appointment to meet her.

👀 Look who came to visit us yesterday

Fergus, formerly known as Max has now been with his hoomans for 1 year! 🎉

He wanted to bring us some treats for the other dogs and new leads for our Volunteer Dog Walkers. 🤗🩵

His hoomans had this to say:📣

'He settled into our routine so quickly and rarely puts a paw wrong in the house these days. Worst I come home to is (yet another) stuffed toy-related crime scene. He's just a big boy with big feelings, and thankfully with a little help from a trainer, our walks are far more peaceful these days, especially when we realised he can be bribed with cocktail sausages to behave himself long enough to meet others. For his gotcha day last weekend we even booked a field nearby for him and his best friend, Scout, to have a big zoom and some homemade pupcakes - both boys slept the rest of the weekend away after as they had such a blast!
Forever grateful to Brown Street for introducing Fergus into my life.'

Thank you very much Fergus for visiting us with some goodies. We are so happy to see you enjoying life. 🥰🐕🐾
