Recently had a message from Miley Moo's mum that Miley Moo passed away peacefully 🥹💔

Miley was a sassy little bundle of energy when I first met her all those years ago! It was a meet and greet you'll never forget 🤣😂

Miley's zest for life and adventure was an unstoppable force! She loved our adventures together and couldn't wait to get out of the house and on the road!

I always remember through Covid-19 and the social distancing rules in place at the time. Jane was sat in the park with some friends socially distanced and Miley Moo pulled me towards Jane so hard and quick that I ended up crumpled on the floor in the middle of a circle of chairs and ladies chatting away only to look down and see a dishevelled dog walker wondering what just happened 😳 🤪🤣

Miley's love for the sausage tree game 🌳🍖🐕💨 Miley Moo had her very specific trees that she loved to head towards and make it known it was game time! There was no way you could walk past those trees without a game or two!

The trips to Jollyes 🤪🤣 Miley Moo really thought she was store manager in there! Everything had to be sniffed to within an inch of its life as if we were doing store stock checks and we'd do multiple laps until Miley decided it was time to be the store bouncer and stand in the doorway for a prolonged period of time monitoring the comings and goings 🤣😂

Made friends with two birds who used to follow us around the park and on some walks it was like they were waiting for us at the entrance to the park. And they'd swoop down and waddle around the park with us or give us some kind of ceremonial fly over like a red arrows fly past 🥰

Very quickly Miley Moo had her routine set with me how our visits would go, when she'd had enough of a walk, when we went back home, sofa time for belly rubs, play time etc.

Always had that massive staffie mischievous smile and cheeky glint in her eyes!

A special, sassy, total lovebug and will be greatly missed.

Two awesome days away SCI SCENT conference 2026.

Amazing speakers from start to finish coming from various parts of the detection dog world scientists, researchers, operational handlers....

Lots of learning, questioning and rethinking things 🤔 and how can I bring this learning to classes and workshops 🤔

A lot to take in and process but an amazing two day's. And will definitely be heading back to SciScent Conference 2027 🫡

And I had to get the SciScent hoodie with the cocker spaniel on as it was a working cocker spaniel 'Turbo Toby' who started me down the path of canine olfaction and scent work.

So yesterday we did a thing!

I took Murphy Man to his first ever trailing session. Previously I've tried multiple times to see if scent detection is for Murphy Man and would engage with it up to a point but you could tell it isn't his cup of tea! No biggie never going to force anything or make Murphy Man do scent detection. But just because one discipline of scent work isn't for Murphy Man (or any dog) doesn't mean that scent work isn't for them at all.

It's finding what they engage with whether it's scent detection, tracking, trailing, ManTrailing etc there will be a form of scent work that your dog will take to.

And it was nice to be the student for a change instead of being the instructor. The session was more to see if Murphy Man engaged with it, was happy, building confidence and helping to open up his world a little bit more. But also as a byproduct I learnt new things being the student. That part of the dog training world I love when instructors/trainers can learn from each other we all have different experiences, maybe more knowledge and know how about certain things that you don't, maybe learnt our craft through different organisations/educational providers/shadowing experiences, have a different take on something or know how to do something but with a different approach to it etc it only makes you better trainer/instructor if you continue to learn.

But yesterday Murphy Man blew me away with how he took to trailing, grew in confidence as the session went on and trailed really well for a first timer. His second trail of the session was amazing so confident and on it no messing around 🥳

Had an email back from The Together Centre confirming upcoming dates and times its available to hire.

So a post will be going out in the next day or two for people to book on to scent detection classes 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Not been well the last two weeks so a little behind on setting everything up for The school Of Nosework page, emails etc so for this upcoming classes everything will go through the Pud Puds Pet Services email etc

But once I've got a clear head I'll post on here and The School Of Nosework page.

As 2025 closes out and we'll be welcoming in 2026 later tonight, thought I'd share a little update for what's happening and coming in 2026.

Currently doing my research and looking like the name for the rebrand is not currently registered on companies house, still I'll search socials and other things to make sure the business name is not taken or in use 🤞🤞🤞 (Have blanked out the name on the screenshot so it isn't taken before I have chance to register it)

As when I've done themed classes previously they've been a hit and received great feedback from those. So currently writing up themed classes and workshops. They do take a little bit of time to put together with getting the right props and things but really looking forward to putting these on and keeping our UK Sniffer Dogs Scent Detection Classes & Workshops fun and interesting.

Do have a tracking instructors course that's in the background. That at some point (Hopefully early 2026) will need some volunteers to do some tracking classes/workshops to be filmed as part of the instructors assessment, for me to submit footage of me teaching to be assessed. On that the head instructors aren't focusing on you or your dog or how well the dog tracks but on my understanding of what I'm teaching, that my approach and ethics align with the course provider etc so the main focus from the head instructors point of view is of me and what I'm doing.

Then hopefully can progress through other tracking instructors qualifications and instructors courses 🤞

The Pud Puds Pet Services page will be amended to say permanently closed but the page will remain on Facebook as theres many, many years and countless pictures and video's of memories for many people and I just couldn't delete the page and take that away from anyone. So once everything is in place that needs to be in place a brand new page will be created and I'll post on here so everyone is aware of it if they wish to follow it 😉

Likely be no classes or workshops around February 2026 as I'm away at conference for a few days. And don't really like having a run of classes with breaks in them unless there's no other way around it.

I am hoping the first run of classes will be early March 2026 🤞 so gives everyone time to recover from Christmas and New Year. And heading towards spring so the evenings will be a little bit lighter for outside searches 🤞

We still have an owed day on East Manchester Community Boat Project from this summer when it was far too hot for the dogs so I'll ping an email across and see when the boat is available to book in the owed date.

So 2025 in many ways has not gone the way I'd hoped or planned for...

We had some bereavements this year 💔

Random heatwaves 🌡☀️🥵 that at times with short notice postponed classes and workshops in the dogs best interests and wellbeing.

Diary clashes with the together centre where it wasn't available to hire on dates I was available, it happens...

But in other ways 2025 has been a good year

At the age of 40 I finally on my first attempt passed my driving test and got a little car 🚘

Within the rescue I work for I landed a job within a behaviour team and left the customer support team in August to join the behaviour team 🥳

Attended my first IMPACT K9 Working Dog Conference and came away with lots of little golden nuggets of information, hints, tips and tricks....

Booked on for SciScent Conference in February 2026 that'll be my first SciScent Conference too!

May not have had as many runs of UKSD scent detection classes and workshops as I'd hoped and planned for this year. But there has been some stand out moments for each dog this year! Buddy smashing a truffle oil hide at height hidden in a pull cord dangling from the ceiling there was some talk that Buddy wouldn't be able to get it 🤯😬🫣 but I had faith in Buddy and so did Louisa!

Frank had many little wins and moments. The growth in confidence has been amazing and even did a little ManTrailing session in Manchester with the insanely talented Jack Fenton - Dorset Dog Trainer 🤟🫡🥳

Koda went from a billion miles an hour and just a blur to slowing things down and going from strength to strength and a seriously talented Border Collie at scent detection 👌

Penny will be Penny and likes to announce her presence at class 🤣😂 but made great progress with people and water searching 👌

Cally had some medical concerns so we had to adapt, adjust and rethink some things so that Cally could continue. For me a search in the children's room with just a little bit of truffle oil swabbed on to the brick work and Cally just nailed it with pin point accuracy popped her nose right where I'd swabbed the brick. And that was just for fun to see what happens with no expectations or pressure just having fun with it...

And so many other moments that were personal highlights at classes 🥳🥰

2026 I'm most definitely looking forward to getting back to teaching scent detection classes and workshops.

Hopefully adding a tracking instructors qualification to my name 🤞 so able to also offer tracking classes, worlshops and 1-2-1's 🤞

There might be a rebrand of PPPS as I'm no longer offering dog walking and pet sitting services and just do the scent work side of thing's around my full time job. But the details and how that might look isn't quite figured out yet. I might leave this page alone as there's a lot of memories for owners of their dogs, cats, chickens, ducks etc on this page and may just create a new page under a new name 🤔 watch this space on that one.
