🌊 LADYBOWER RESERVOIR — 1 space left!

Riding alongside Ladybower on horseback is honestly one of those experiences you don’t forget. The water stretching out ahead, hills reflected in the surface, wide open views all the way to the reservoir head — and a photo spot up there that’ll make your jaw drop 📸

Shorter, flatter ride with lovely trotting stretches. Perfect if you want that Peak District magic without hours in the saddle.

A flat old railway line winding through stunning High Peak woodland — the kind of ride where you can breathe, take it all in and have a good natter as you go. No big hills, no tricky terrain, just gorgeous autumn scenery all the way.

Our confidence ride — perfect for nervous or novice riders, young or green horses, or anyone who just fancies a relaxed morning out this half term 🌿

Right, this one’s for anyone who records their hacks 📱

I found out last week that if you track your rides on Equilab, getting the actual route file off it needs their paid version. Your own ride, locked behind a subscription. It properly annoyed me on everyone’s behalf.

Two that give it you for nothing:
📍 Strava — record on your phone, then export the GPX from the website on a computer. Not the app, it hides it.
📍 OsmAnd — saves straight to a file on your phone as you go.

Worth knowing whatever you want it for — writing a route out for a friend, keeping a record of where you’ve been, or just knowing you can. A ride you can’t get back off the app isn’t really yours, is it 🌿

And if you’ve never tracked a ride at all, don’t worry about any of the above — record your next hack in BridleNav itself and it’s done for you 🐴

We’ve found a stunning new venue and we want to know — are YOU interested?

Tilstone Bank Cross Country Farm Ride in Cheshire is one of those special places that makes you stop and just take it all in 😍 Beautiful open countryside, dry ground, wide grass tracks and the most incredible cross country jumps dotted throughout the route.

We’re thinking of adding a guided ride here with Katy leading — 3.5 miles across this gorgeous farm, all year round 🐴🌿

Hill work, big views, happy riders — another morning on Eccles Pike ticked off. 🐴

Katy took two riders out this morning on one of our favourite routes — 5 miles of proper Peak District terrain, some serious climbing, and that view from the top that makes every step worth it.

The riders came back absolutely buzzing. That’s what it’s all about. ☀️

“10 out of 10. One of the best I’ve been on in a long time.” — that’s Ken, who’s ridden with us more times than we can count 🌳

Ken came back to Blidworth Woods last week and that’s exactly what he said. Honestly, it made our day.

We’ve got one more date coming up this Tuesday — and if you’re looking for somewhere to take your horse that isn’t another arena, another school session, or another hack down the same lanes you always do, this might be exactly what you need.

Sandy forest tracks through the trees, no road work, no rushing. Just you, your horse, and about 90 minutes of proper woodland riding. Jess leads this one and she’s brilliant — calm, experienced, and great with horses of all confidence levels.

Walk only, so it’s perfect if your horse needs a relaxed, confidence-building hack in a beautiful setting.

Monday morning sorted. Eccles Pike, 10am, one space left — get your horse in the trailer 🏔️

This is the kind of ride you book when you want to actually feel something. Proper bridleways, a ridge line with views that go on forever, and two and a half hours where it’s just you, your horse, and the High Peak. No arenas, no school figures — just countryside.

Katy leads this one and she’s brilliant — relaxed, experienced, and the kind of guide who makes every rider feel confident from the first five minutes.

Walk, trot and canter where the ground allows. A bit of road work so your horse needs to be traffic confident, but nothing that’ll spook a sensible horse.

Max 3 riders — so it’s a proper small group, not a trail ride convoy. And there is just ONE space left on this one.

Time for an update on BridleNav.

It’s out with riders at the moment and I’ve been genuinely taken aback by how far it’s spread. There are people testing it up in the Scottish Borders, across Northumberland, Durham and Tyne and Wear, over in the Yorkshire Wolds, down at Doncaster, along the Trans Pennine Trail — and here at home in the Peak District.

The best bit has been what they’ve found. One rider kept being told to turn round and go back to the start, halfway round a loop. I’d have put that down to her phone — it wasn’t, it was a real fault in how the app worked out which way she was heading, and it’s fixed now. Another sent a ride back nearly twice as long as she’d actually ridden. Fixed too. And one couldn’t see what she was typing when she was marking up the gates and turns on a route, so that whole screen got rebuilt the way she described it to me on the phone. None of that would ever have been found sat at a desk.

Routes are coming in as well, which is really what this winter is for — getting enough on there that wherever you ride, there’s something waiting when it opens.

🐴 Half term rides for younger riders — here's what you need to know…

We're opening up four of our half term rides to riders aged 12 and over this year — but we want to be upfront about which ones, because not every ride is suitable.

Rocky Roads and Eccles Pike are longer, more demanding routes — these ones are for our adult riders only.

The rides younger riders (12+) can join are:

🌲 Mon 20 Oct — Blidworth Woods, Nottinghamshire — 9am
🌊 Fri 23 Oct — Poolsbrook Country Park, Derbyshire — 10am
🏞️ Thu 29 Oct — Sett Valley Trail, Hayfield — 10am
💧 Thu 29 Oct — Ladybower Reservoir (short route) — 10am

They'll need to be a confident, competent rider on their own horse, and must be accompanied by a riding adult in the saddle. Small groups, experienced guides, brilliant routes 🐴
