We would like to congratulate Anne on her recent award 🏆🐎🏆

She is the proud recipient of
The Ray Williamson Award. This is a prestigious accolade presented by the Association of Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons (ARVS) to honor individuals for outstanding services and lifelong contributions to racehorse welfare and the British horse racing.

If it’s possible, a cow will manage to do it.

This young bull was seen by Jade for lameness and swelling of the foot that didn’t respond to previous medication.

Once the foot was lifted and cleaned a ring of granulation tissue was seen. Embedded approximately an inch into the tissue was a ring of wire! The wire was cut and dug out, and a block was placed on the other claw. The bull made a full recovery and hasn’t tried to self amputate any more body parts.

What would we do without Gill, Emma, Chloe, Kim, Claire, and last but not least Sophie who has made her return from maternity leave.

There’s not a lot that these guys don’t do: juggling phone calls, organising vets, keeping on top of equipment, expert animal holders.

Our vets couldn’t do it without you!

The grass is growing! Get your mag ready!

Fast growing, lush grass is low in magnesium and you know what that means, STAGGERS RISK IS HIGH!

Watch your lactating ewes and cattle for:
- erratic behaviour
- twitching muscles
- loss of coordination
- being unable to stand
- convulsions and fitting
- death

If you suspect you have a case of grass staggers please ring us for advice ASAP as it can progress rapidly.
