We really don’t want to dampen any other small businesses' spirits. We think each and every one of our fellow small business owners is amazing in what they do. You put all your effort into looking after your customers and should be incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication in such challenging times.….
…..but it’s that time of year again when one particular ‘awards’ company does their rounds. They try to shine your light on themselves and ask for £174 + VAT just to enter their awards, supposedly because a member of the public has nominated your business.
This is by no means the end of it. They will ask for a lot more for different "award packages" before they finally gift the ‘award’ to the business.
These vanity awards prey on businesses already working their socks off trying to stay afloat. The shops juggling rising costs, the pet groomers squeezing in an extra dog to cover the electric bill, the family businesses doing late nights and early mornings because they actually care about what they’re building.
Those are the people these “awards” target. The ones who deserve genuine support, not another invoice dressed up as a pat on the back. It’s like they sniff out the hard work and think, “Ah yes, here’s someone tired enough to believe this will help.”
But it never does.
Real encouragement comes from the customers who keep coming back, the local community that we have roots in, and the pride of knowing you’re doing things the right way.….
....not from someone trying to sell you a shiny bit of plastic. You deserve a lot more than that!
Again, we just want to say how honoured we are to be running a small business alongside all of you. We all just want a well done and a round of applause once in a while.
