Building Confidence From Day One

This handsome Standard Poodle puppy, Rupert, recently joined us at Wagtails of The Wolds for his puppy groom, and what a wonderful introduction to salon life it was!

When people think of Poodles, they often think of their beautiful coats and elegant appearance, but they are also incredibly intelligent, eager to learn and thrive when introduced to new experiences in a positive way.

For puppies like Rupert, these early grooming appointments aren’t about achieving the perfect haircut.

They’re about building confidence, creating trust and helping young dogs become comfortable with all the sights, sounds and sensations they’ll encounter throughout their lives.

From gentle brushing and bathing to getting used to being handled on the grooming table, every step is designed to be a positive experience.

By investing time in these foundations now, we’re helping to create a dog who feels relaxed and confident about grooming in the future.

Rupert was an absolute superstar and took everything in his stride.

With his inquisitive nature and adorable personality, he certainly charmed us.

We can’t wait to watch him grow and continue his grooming journey with us.

A little update from Barney 💙 🐾

After a fresh groom, I couldn’t resist taking a photo of my handsome boy.

It’s hard to believe that Barney will be celebrating his 12th birthday at the weekend.

As many of you know, Barney’s journey over the past few years has had its challenges.

Following surgery to remove an a**l gland tumour, he has also undergone two further operations to remove infected lymph nodes.

His next ultrasound scan at Paragon is coming up soon, and these quarterly check-ups play an important role in helping us monitor his health.

Our goal is simple: to keep everything at bay, slow things down, and most importantly, ensure Barney continues to enjoy the happy, active life he loves.

Thankfully, Barney still enjoys his walks, his beach adventures, his daily zoomies, and of course, being thoroughly spoiled whenever the opportunity arises.

Dogs have an incredible way of teaching us to focus on the present, and Barney is no exception. He reminds me every day to appreciate the little things, celebrate the good days, and never take a single moment for granted.

For now, we’re looking forward to celebrating his 12th birthday and keeping everything crossed for another good ultrasound result.

I know many of you have followed Barney’s story over the years, and your kindness, support and good wishes have meant more than you’ll ever know. Thank you. 💙

Puppy Alert ‼️ 🐶 🩵

Five-month-old Cavapoo Stadley recently joined us at Wagtails of The Wolds for his first puppy groom, and what a little superstar he was!

A puppy’s first few grooming visits are about so much more than looking cute.

They’re all about building confidence, creating positive associations and gently introducing young dogs to the sights, sounds and sensations they’ll experience throughout their grooming journey.

Like many Cavapoos, Stadley has inherited a beautiful soft coat that will need regular maintenance as he grows.

Starting grooming from a young age helps puppies become familiar with handling, brushing, bathing and drying, making future visits a happy stress-free experience.

Stadley took everything in his stride, enjoying all the fuss, attention and gentle introductions to salon life.

In fact, by the time we got to his photo shoot, all that excitement and learning had clearly caught up with him, and he was looking more than a little sleepy. 😴

We absolutely loved meeting this gorgeous little boy and can’t wait to watch him grow in confidence as he continues his grooming journey with us.

Double the Pugs, double the fun! 🐾

Adorable Lola and Doug joined us Wagtails of The Wolds for a deshedding pamper and a thorough clean of their facial folds, leaving them looking and feeling their very best.

Pugs are one of the nation’s most loved breeds, famous for their charming personalities, expressive faces and ability to make their families laugh every single day.

Beneath those adorable wrinkles, however, there are a few areas that require a little extra attention to help keep them healthy and comfortable.

The deep facial folds can trap moisture, dirt, food particles and natural oils. Without regular cleaning, these areas can become irritated and uncomfortable.

Lola and Doug were absolute stars while we carefully cleaned and checked their face rolls before treating them to a deshedding pamper.

Although Pugs have short coats, they are surprisingly prolific shedders, and regular deshedding treatments can help remove loose coat, reduce hair around the home and keep the skin and coat in lovely condition.

Most importantly, both Lola and Doug enjoyed plenty of fuss, cuddles and gentle care throughout their visit.

We can’t wait see them back for their next pamper. 🐶🐶 🩵 ❤️

From Athlete to Adored Family Member 💕

Some dogs spend many years racing around a track…and then one day, their greatest adventure begins.

Beautiful Elma the Greyhound joined her forever family after returning from racing, and what a privilege it was to welcome her to
Wagtails of The Wolds.

Like many dogs adjusting to a whole new way of life, everything is still very new to Elma.

New sights, sounds, routines and lots of new experiences.

We took things at her pace, ensuring her visit was calm, positive and full of reassurance as she continues to settle into family life.

Watching retired racing Greyhounds begin this exciting new chapter is always incredibly special.

From athlete to adored family member, it’s a journey that never fails to warm our hearts.

Brave Little Jessie Steals Our Hearts 💕

There’s something about a Dachshund that makes everyone smile…and adorable Jessie was no exception.

With her little legs, sweet nature and larger-than-life personality, Jessie joined us Wagtails of The Wolds for a gentle pamper session tailored especially for her needs.

Dachshunds are famously brave, loyal and full of character, but as many Dachshund owners know, their long backs can make them prone to spinal problems, meaning extra care and handling is so important.

Jessie has undergone major surgery in recent years, so every part of her visit was approached thoughtfully and carefully to keep her safe, comfortable and relaxed throughout.

From how she was lifted and supported, to ensuring she felt secure during her groom, her wellbeing was our absolute priority every step of the way.

Despite everything she has been through, Jessie was an absolute little superstar - calm, trusting and soaking up all the love and gentle attention from the team. 💕

We adored spending time with precious Jessie and feel very honoured to care for such a special girl. See you soon little one.

Border Collie Flapjack’s Wellbeing Pamper Session 🐾

Beautiful Flapjack joined us Wagtails of The Wolds for a lovely wellbeing-focused pamper session which included an ultrasonic teeth clean and a deshedding groom. 🦷

Border Collies are such intelligent, sensitive and hardworking dogs, originally bred for herding sheep and known for their incredible energy, loyalty and quick minds.

Alongside all that intelligence comes a thick double coat that needs regular maintenance to help keep it healthy, comfortable and free from loose undercoat - especially during shedding season.

During Flapjack’s visit, we treated him to a thorough deshedding treatment to help remove all that trapped loose coat, leaving him feeling much fresher, lighter and more comfortable.

He also enjoyed an ultrasonic teeth clean, which is a gentle, non-invasive treatment designed to help support oral health, freshen breath and reduce plaque buildup without the need for sedation or anaesthetic.

Flapjack was such a lovely boy throughout his time with us and took everything beautifully in his stride.

It was such a pleasure to spend time with him and help him feel his very best. 💙 🐾

Helping Spike Through Shedding Season.

Beautiful Spike the Rough Collie joined us Wagtails of The Wolds for his deshedding groom - and what a gorgeous boy he is!

Rough Collies are such a stunning breed, known for their beautiful flowing double coats, intelligent nature and gentle personalities.

However, that glorious coat also requires regular maintenance to keep it healthy, comfortable and free from trapped undercoat.

During Spike’s groom, we treated him to a deep cleansing bath, coat conditioning treatment, thorough blow dry and lots of careful brushing and de shedding work to help remove all the loose coat sitting underneath.

With breeds like Rough Collies, grooming is so much more than appearance - regular deshedding helps air circulate properly through the coat and can make a huge difference to comfort, especially during heavier shedding periods.

Spike was an absolute sweetheart throughout his groom and left looking beautifully fresh, fluffy and feeling so much more comfortable.

Beautiful Coco’s Pamper Day at Wagtails of The Wolds 🛁

Adorable Coco the Cocker Spaniel joined us for a lovely pamper session, and what a sweet girl she was.

From the moment she arrived, Coco was full of sweetness, tail wags and happy spaniel energy.

She absolutely loved all the attention during her groom and was such a pleasure for us to pamper from start to finish.

During her visit, we carefully neatened and tidied her coat while still keeping all the little features that make Coco so wonderfully Coco - including her adorable fluffy ears and her signature little head tuft.

Her groom was all about helping her feel fresh, comfortable and beautifully cared for while still keeping her natural charm and personality shining through.

We completely adored this gorgeous girl and can’t wait to see her again for her next pampering. 🐶 🤍 🐾

A Very Warm Wagtails Welcome for Ozzy 🎀

Sweet little Ozzy the 10-year-young Cavapoo has recently moved to the area, and we couldn’t feel luckier that she’s now part of the Wagtails of The Wolds family. 🐶🐾

From the moment she arrived at the salon, she completely melted our hearts with her gentle nature, adorable little face and sweet personality.

It has been such a delight getting to know her whilst pampering her.

We always believe grooming should feel calm, comforting and tailored to each dog, especially our older pups who deserve that little bit of extra gentleness and care.

Ozzy was an absolute angel throughout her pamper session.

We already adore this precious little girl and can’t wait to watch her settle into her new life here in Yorkshire. 💕🐶
