🐾 Who can't resist a Bernese Mountain Dog? ❤️

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming this very handsome Bernese Mountain Dog into the practice the other day, and he certainly brought plenty of smiles with him! 🐶🥰

There were lots of cuddles, plenty of love, and of course a few well-deserved fusses during his visit. We always enjoy spending time with our wonderful patients, and this gentle giant was no exception! 🤗🐾

🍃 Grass Seed Season is Here – Keep an Eye on Your Dog! 🐶

Grass seeds may look harmless, but they can cause painful problems for our canine friends. Their sharp, dart-like shape means they can burrow into the skin, ears, eyes, paws, and even the nose.

⚠️ Signs to watch out for:
🐾 Excessive licking or chewing at a paw
👂 Head shaking or scratching at the ears
👁️ Red, watery, or squinting eyes
🤧 Sudden sneezing or nosebleeds
🐕 Swelling, redness, or a painful lump
😣 Limping or signs of discomfort

🌿 Prevention tips:
✔️ Check your dog after every walk, especially between the toes, around the ears, eyes, and armpits.
✔️ Keep the hair around the paws trimmed if appropriate.
✔️ Avoid long grass where possible during peak grass seed season.

💧🐾 National Pet Hydration Month 🐾💧

With the warm weather we're currently enjoying, it's more important than ever to make sure our pets stay well hydrated. Just like us, pets can become dehydrated quickly, especially during hot days.

Fresh, clean water helps regulate body temperature, supports healthy organs, aids digestion, and keeps your furry friends feeling their best.

Here are a few simple ways to help your pets stay hydrated:
💦 Always provide fresh, clean water and refill bowls regularly.
🐶 Take water with you on walks and adventures.
🐱 Try a pet water fountain if your cat is a reluctant drinker.
🥣 Add a little water to dry food or offer wet food to help increase water intake.
🌞 Keep water bowls in a cool, shaded area and avoid exercising pets during the hottest parts of the day.

Unfortunately, we have had a little cat brought into us this morning who had been involved in an RTA💔.

The little one is not microchipped and was found along the side of the A2. Tricolour, believed to be around 1-2 years old.

Keeping your dog protected from fleas and ticks is an important part of their healthcare, but we know that remembering regular treatments isn't always easy!
