HEALTH PLANS!!

Love them? Hate them? Don't know enough about them?
We want to make sure our plans are useful and fit in with what you and your pets need, so we're considering some changes and would love your input!

The current version of the plan is linked below, and it falls into two categories:
1. Basic wellness plan - annual vet exam, vaccinations, tailored parasite treatments, 10% discount on other consultations and on dentistry.
2. Consults included plan - as above, but all standard vet and nurse consults are included (our specialised services such as rehabilitation/pain management and behaviour are not included).

Ideas we've discussed:
- a plan that focuses even more on preventative care, and includes nutrition consults, musculoskeletal assessments and preventative rehab/physical therapy, first aid and CPR classes, behaviour strategies, lessons in how to clean eyes and ears, clip nails etc
- a plan for senior pets that includes regular blood and urine tests and blood pressure checks
- a plan for arthritic pets that includes rehab/physical therapy, laser, acupuncture, classes on at home arthritis management, possibly joint injections and other more specialised things we can do

🐾😻 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 😻🐾

We currently have a waiting list for new clients.

We are still registering newly adopted pets from existing clients, as well as new puppies and kittens, but all other registration requests are welcome to be added to our waiting list. A number of clients from the waiting list will be registered at the end of every month, depending on our availability at the time.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful clients for your trust in sharing your lovely pets with us, we truly love taking care of all of them, they put a smile on our faces every day! And you've made us too popular! 😆💕

We love being a part of the pet care community in Christchurch (and beyond!), and we want to make sure we are here for you when you need us. We have no plans to take over the world (not even close!) and expand into branch practices or other areas, our mission has always been to take as good care of our patients and their people as possible, to keep veterinary care real and personal and honest and accessible, and to make our little corner of the world a better place for the people and pets we are lucky enough to share it with.

We're back, rested and reporting for duty! Australia is gorgeous, but it's good to be home 🥰😻

A huge thank you to our fabulous team for holding down the fort and taking super care of all our patients and clients, a special shout out to Esme for stepping into the tough head vet role, and thank you to our lovely locum vets Roxy and Susie for helping out!

RECALL OF YEARS DOG FOOD
Please be aware that all Years Fresh meals have been recalled due to many dogs developing severe dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).
If you have been feeding your dog the Years food, please stop immediately and make an appointment with us to have your dog's tear production tested. And especially if your dog has any visible eye problems, then we should see them as soon as possible.
Fingers crossed everyone's pups are OK!

Following the voluntary recall of all Years Fresh Meals, we know your first thought will be for your dog, whether they’re safe, what you should feed them and how you can continue caring for them.

To be clear, this recall is a precaution. Our investigation has identified a potential link between buckwheat, an ingredient used in many dog foods, and reported cases of dry eye. Lab testing will confirm this, but we've taken the decision not to wait.

Dogs' health & wellbeing have always driven us, and that means acting now rather than waiting for absolute certainty.

Please stop feeding any Years Signature Meals immediately, even if your dog seems well. When choosing an alternative, we recommend continuing with complete & balanced fresh food with wholefood ingredients.

We’ve paused all Years subscriptions. Upcoming orders will be cancelled and refunded automatically to your original payment method. If an order is in transit, please refuse this and contact Customer Care to receive your account credit.

Alongside our ongoing investigation, we’re reformulating our meals without buckwheat, with your dog's wellbeing at the heart of every decision, so, when Years returns, you can feel fully confident filling their bowl again.

We're thinking of every dog who’s been affected and every family caring for them through such a worrying and difficult time.

We’re deeply sorry for the worry this has caused. We know how much your dog means to you, and we want to ensure you’ve clear information, guidance and help throughout.

📣 A little practice update

Just a quick note to let our lovely clients know that Stan and Dalya are currently taking a well-deserved holiday and will be returning during the week commencing 24th August. 🐾

This means we will not be able to accommodate requests to see or speak with Stan or Dalya specifically during this time. While they’re away, our team will be working hard to look after everyone as usual, but we expect to be busier than normal. We therefore kindly ask for your patience and understanding if things take a little longer than usual.

As the sunny weather continues, another warning to watch out for adders! We've seen two cases so far this summer, and are pleased to report that both dogs have recovered without developing any of the more dangerous symptoms!

While AI helped with the layout because I'm terrible at making articles look pretty, the words and photos are ours, we're not about to start relying on ChatGPT for medical advice :)

And no, Milo has not had any snake bites so far (keep it up Milo!), but his photo is super cute and needed showing off!
