SUCCESS STORY: BERNIE...

Bernie's story is one which I come across occasionally, whereby the symptoms don't quite fit the diagnosis. After the right diagnosis was found, Bernie went from strength to strength with physiotherapy- once a lame and nervous chap back to running across fields again like a pup 🐾

Apologies for the brief hiatus in posting on here!

I took a short break over the bank holiday, which means I end up working twice as much each end just to fit everything in 😅

We’re straight back into work with tonnes of new cases, a few patients being discharged, and lots of client progress!!

Here’s Teddy who we have finally found a routine of keeping him comfortable and despite being quite a big lad, he still insists on sitting in my lap for some of his treatment 🥰🐾

We are looking for a person who would like an entry level role within our practice.
Saturday morning (9am-12pm) and Wednesday evening (4pm-6pm) in our Lytchett branch.
The job would be supporting our team with end of day tasks such as cleaning out kennels, floor hygiene, cleaning kits, washing and a variety of other jobs.
PHP are very proud of our previous Saturday helpers 🙂 They have gone on to study Vet science, Zoology and Veterinary nursing amongst other things.

Beautiful Baloo the Leonberger out showing at the weekend, picking up a VHC at the Welsh champs 🏆

Strength and conditioning as well as individualised physiotherapy and McTimoney Chiropractic has helped this boy receive super comments from judges. We’ve been able to improve subtle aspects of posture, coat (this one is huge!) and movement which account for so much in the show ring 🙌🏻

Thank you to all my clients who have been patient with me this week.

We very sadly and suddenly lost our Weimeraner Otis to what was most likely a hemangiosarcoma. It’s been devastating, but choosing to continue seeing my clients and see how amazing they’re all doing has kept me going ❤️

A quick search online will result in hundreds of different ways and products promising to help you with your horse or dog's chronic condition (some with no scientific basis or testing at all!).

I think it's often not shared enough that there are simple steps we can take as owners to help our pets, alongside their other interventions whether that be pharmaceutical, herbal, supplementary, therapeutic or otherwise.

Here are 5 easy (and more importantly, free!) ways in which you can help keep track of your animal's chronic condition...

1. keeping an exercise diary can reveal aspects of your animal's physical exercise which might be causing flare-ups
2. constantly and consistently take photos and videos! These are useful to more than just yourself
3. utilise online resources and apps which look at objectifying your animal's function and pain
4. ensure you're educated about your animal's condition to stay up-to-date and to advocate for them. Veterinary professionals can verify information you see online too!
5. a huge proportion of our pets are overweight. Every extra KG can increase strain on joints, soft tissues and organs which are already dealing with a chronic condition

Happy 1st birthday to Bossy Flossy! 🎂

This little rascal was surrendered in rescue at 8 weeks old with some very obvious abnormalities. Not only does Floss have a rare genetic condition usually prevented through ethical breeding, she also has cerebellar hypoplasia, meaning the area of her brain controlling movement is underdeveloped 🧠

Despite all this, floss is charging her way through life and is not stopping any time soon! Floss is loved so deeply by her paw-rents who very kindly took her in (otherwise she may have been coming home with me!).

Floss inspires me and others to continue providing care for those animals who suffer some of the most complex or least researched conditions, including Nala who I’ve posted about recently.

SUCCESS STORY: BUZZ...

This story makes me so proud of the career I've built! Buzz had spinal surgery in early this year for IVDD and his owners feared for the worst. Fast-forwards to now, he is back enjoying life and running with his brother, Bertie 🐾
