🐴 Sore Stomach or a Pain in the Back? 🐴

Emerald Equine Vets are excited to offer TWO Special Gastroscope & Back Radiograph Clinic Days in JUNE 2026

👂So often we hear:
“Could it be ulcers… or is it actually the back?”

The truth is that Gastric Ulcers and Kissing Spines can show very similar and sometimes overlapping, ridden and behavioural symptoms.

🛑 Signs can include:

🔘 Tack aversion (tail swishing, pinning ears, biting at owner or tack)
🔘 Behavioural changes (bucking, rearing, bolting, refusing to go forward)
🔘 Grooming sensitivity
🔘 Performance decline (struggling to maintain a canter lead, jumping issues)
🔘 Pain signs (teeth grinding, wind sucking, hypersalivation)

✔ Horses must be up to date with Flu & Tet vaccinations before attending the clinic facilities.

✔ Gastroscopy patients: Food must be removed 14 hours prior to the procedure and water removed 3 hours beforehand.

All in a day’s work making sure this lovely horse gets the care it needs — safely, calmly, and with a bit of creative thinking thrown in.

We promise it’s all very professional… even if it doesn’t always look it from the ground 🤭

Fair play to our team for always rising to the occasion (literally!) and to our four-legged patients for being absolute stars ⭐️

Well ... if there was an award for busiest vets this week, we’d be trotting home with it 😄🐎

It’s been non-stop, slightly chaotic, and full of everything from curious noses to a few dramatic hoof-stomping moments 🐴 — but we’ve loved every second of it!

As always a HUGE thank you to all our amazing clients for your patience, kindness and trust (and for keeping us fuelled with chats, laughs and craic along the way 😁).

Wishing you all a brilliant, safe relaxing weekend — and of course our horsey friends too… may your hay be plentiful and your neigh-bours well behaved 🐴😆
