Hoping to see lots of Doodles tomorrow at the The King William Inn at Scaftworth 🥰

Our next King William Dog Social is dedicated to curls, fluff and dogs that somehow always look like real-life teddy bears—the Doodles are taking over the King Billy garden! 🐾🧸

Join us for a wonderful morning with Cockapoos, Cavapoos, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Maltipoos, Poodles and all their lovely Doodle relatives.

📅 Sunday 18th October
⏰ 10am–11.30am
📍 The King William, Scaftworth

🎟️ Entry is £5 per dog, payable at the gate. This includes a pup cup and a donation to The Mayflower Animal Sanctuary.

🍞 Freshly made breakfast sandwiches will be available to purchase, alongside barista coffee and tea for the humans!

No dog? No problem! Whether you’re considering joining the curly-haired club, desperately hoping to befriend a Doodle or simply fancy spending your Sunday morning surrounded by fluffy teddy bears, you’re very welcome to join us. 🥹

Not your dog’s week? Don’t worry! We’ll be hosting a different dog social every Sunday until our all-breeds Christmas Pawty on 13th December! 🎄🐶

We’ll also be introducing even more breeds and dog groups in the new year, so every pooch will get their turn.

No advance tickets are required, just turn up and pay by cash or card at the gate.

Tag someone whose Doodle needs to join us! 🐾

Thinking of going on a dog walk after the social? Please be aware of reports of seasonal canine illness and harvest mites following walks in nearby Harwell Woods.

REGARDING DONATIONS 😊

We appreciate all and every donation that is sent to our Sanctuary, however we often get asked what items we accept, and what we don’t. To make things easier, we’ve decided to lay it all out on this post:

We accept:
✅ Dog/Cat Dry Food (Any opened bags must be appropriately sealed and labelled with the date it was opened and what the food is)
✅ Dog/Cat Wet Food
✅ Dog/Cat Toys (We kindly ask that any soft teddies with glass eyes and/or beads inside do not be donated, these are a choking hazard)
✅Dog/Cat Treats (It would be super appreciated if any opened treats in sandwich bags, etc. would be labelled, the same as the dry food!)
✅ Towels/Tea Towels
✅ Refuse sacks
✅ Washing up liquid
✅ Laundry detergent
✅ Dog P**p bags
✅ Enrichment items
✅ Harnesses/Slip leads
✅ Muzzles
✅ Puppy pads
✅ Cat Litter and Trays
✅ Cat Trees (We ask if any cat trees donated are small! Our cattery doesn’t have sufficient height or width to fit big cat trees. If you’re unsure, please give our cattery a call on 07526 127010)
✅ Cleaning items such as concentrated disinfectant, wipes
✅ Pet Remedy
✅ Grooming items such as dog/cat shampoo, nail clippers, hair clippers, happy hoodies, etc.
✅ Chocolates (for the staff 🤣)

We do not accept:
❌ Duvets, bed sheets, and pillows/cushions - Unfortunately these items take up a lot of space in our storage room, as well as they are too big for our washing machines, and they can be a choking hazard to our animals. We would recommend if you could donate these to your local homeless shelter/charity shop.
❌Clip collars - Unfortunately our policies don’t allow our dogs to wear clip collars because they can be easily escaped, buckle collars only please! 😊
❌Flexi-leads - Our policies unfortunately won’t allow us to use Flexi-leads for our dogs due to a number of reasons, so we ask if these could not be donated as we would be unable to use them.
❌ Miscellaneous items - believe it or not, we’ve had some strange things put in our donation bin, from kitchen utensils to drills. We ask if you could give us a call and see if any of these items will be useful for us.

UNDER SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
There may be some items such as for example, medications that we can accept, however it is best to give us a call on 01302 711330 to discuss whether it is appropriate for our animals.

Blankets/Beds/Crates - Our animals do love any and all blankets/beds/crates that are donated, however we have a lot of overflow of these items so we kindly ask if they could not be donated right now! In the future when we run low, we may ask for these but as of now, we’re all good!

If there was anything missed and you’re unsure if we would accept it, please ask us in the comments or give us a call 🩷

Hi, we came and got our little cooper from you guys nearly 10 years ago, we were nearly ready to finish our search until we came to you guys and spotted a little ginger and white staffy pup hiding in the corner. Our dream dog.

He’s turning 10 this year and just wanted to give you an update. He’s getting slower and older as the days go by but he still smiles and gives cuddles as if he was still a pup. Thankyou for introducing us to our family pet he’s the best 🩵

Here’s another lucky dog who is having a wonderful time in their new home. Say hello to Knox 🥰

MEET CHESTER – A BIG HEART, A BIG PERSONALITY, AND SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE! ❤️
Meet Chester, our gorgeous 2.5year old Bulldog mix, who is searching for someone willing to see beyond his rough edges and discover the wonderful companion he has the potential to be. Chester hasn’t had the easiest start in life, and he’s still learning the ropes. But one thing is certain: this boy has a heart full of love and the potential to become someone’s most loyal best friend.
What makes Chester special?
Super affectionate – he absolutely loves attention, cuddles, chest rubs and, of course, a good bum scratch!
Full of fun and character – Chester is playful, enthusiastic and always ready to throw himself into life… sometimes quite literally!
A loyal companion in the making – with the right person, patience and guidance, he has so much to offer.
A big personality – Chester just is brimming with it!
Chester hasn’t had many opportunities when he was younger, so he still has some important things to learn. He needs an experienced owner who understands larger breeds and is committed to helping him develop his walking skills through consistent, positive training.
Chester would like to be the only dog in his home, for no other reason than he’s an excited boy during play and doesn’t always recognise when it’s time to stop. However, with sensible management, he can enjoy walks alongside other dogs.
💙 Chester isn’t looking for perfection – he’s looking for someone who believes in him.
Someone who can offer clear boundaries, consistency, patience and plenty of affection. Someone who understands that the dogs who need a little extra help can become the most rewarding companions of all.
Behind that boisterous exterior is a loving boy who wants to be fussed, to feel safe and to have someone of his very own.
Could you be the person who gives Chester his chance?
Please don’t overlook him because he still has things to learn. With the right home, the right guidance and someone willing to invest in his future, Chester could be the best friend you never knew you were missing.
Chester is waiting for his someone. Could that someone be you?
