Sunday! Funday! 🐾

Scent Training at Boston Park Farm

This week's challenge involved searching a variety of vehicles to pinpoint the hidden hides/scents.🐶

There was also a scent hidden on a random item... and this is where trusting your dog really came into play! Who trusted their dog when they alerted on something as simple as a w**d? Not everyone... lol 😂

Remember: Trust your dog! They know their job! 🐾

What fun activities have you and your dogs been doing this week? Share below! 👇🐶

Who can multitask? 🐶💩

What happens when your dog poos whilst out on a walk and you need to get a poo bag out, pick it up and keep hold of your dog at the same time?

Do they take that opportunity to pull towards something interesting to sniff? Or spot another dog or person and try to dart off? 🙈

Why not teach them something to do whilst you deal with the poo! They could sit, lie down or, even better, play 'Find It!' with a few treats scattered nearby to keep them happily busy.

Here in class, we're practising exactly this kind of multitasking! The dogs are working on upside-down puzzles, which really get their brains thinking, whilst also learning to stay under control with added distractions such as another person, another dog and treat bowls nearby.

Have a go next time you're out walking and see how well you and your dog can multitask! 🐾

🐾 Friday Favourites! 🐾

Whose dogs LOVE to ‘middle’? ❤️🐶

‘Middle’ is such a fun and useful exercise to teach your dog. It can give them a safe, secure place to stay when you’re out and about — whether that’s at the vets, in a busy/crowded area, or simply when you need them close by.

It’s also fantastic for working on recall, focus and impulse control. 🙌

⚠️ But be warned… once your dog learns ‘middle’, expect them to start doing it at the most random times! 😂

Why? Because they LOVE it!🐶 🥰🐾

🐾 Teaching the ‘Push’ command!

Using a variety of objects, we’re teaching our dogs to use their noses to push — starting with something simple and gradually building up the challenge.

We began with a rolled-up towel, encouraging them to push it with their nose to reveal the hidden treats. From there, we progressed to pushing tubes, then soft cylindrical toys, before working towards the ultimate goal… pushing the ball! ⚽🐶

A great little exercise for encouraging problem-solving, impulse contol, building confidence and teaching our dogs that using their nose can make things happen! 🐾❤️

Friday Favourites! Or NOT! 🌧️🐾

Who else was up and out at 6am this morning, walking their dogs in the pouring rain? 🙋‍♀️🌧️

We were! 😂 Because my dogs couldn’t care less about the weather — they’re happy to walk, explore and, most importantly… SNIFF! 🐶👃

But what about those dogs who take one look at the rain and say, “Absolutely NOT!” 😂

If your dog refuses to venture out when it’s wet, what indoor activities do you do to keep them entertained and mentally stimulated? 🧠🐾

Share your ideas below — let’s give everyone some rainy-day inspiration! 👇☔️
