Exciting news!
Next week I’ll be delivering my very first college talk at Doncaster College! 🎉

On Wednesday 17th June I’ll be speaking to students on both the Animal Care and Business courses about the realities of the pet sitting industry.

I’ll be covering:

🐾 What it's like to work as a pet sitter and things to think about when choosing this profession.

🐾 The business side of running a successful, professional pet sitting business.

🐾 Real stories from my 17+ years working full-time in the industry.

I’m really looking forward to it and hoping to inspire the next generation of responsible pet owners and animal care professionals.

But getting a complete stranger to hand over their house keys, let you sleep in their bed, watch their telly, and trust you completely with their beloved animals?

That's a whole different skill and nobody taught me how.

Some pets cope better than others when their owners go away.

For some, even small changes can feel unsettling — a different environment, unfamiliar smells, new routines, extra noise.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve always believed there’s something very special about caring for pets in their own home 🏡🐾

They still have:
💛 their favourite sleeping spot
💛 familiar smells and sounds
💛 their usual routine
💛 the comfort of home around them

My role is simply to step into that environment as calmly and gently as possible while their humans are away.

🐾 A little sneak peek behind the scenes of a pet sit… 🏡

Today is the penultimate day of a two-week sit, which means it’s Handover day 😊

Beds stripped and washed, towels done, hoovering, bathroom cleaned, kitchen freshened up, plants watered, dog p**p cleared, and making sure everything feels calm, tidy and welcoming for when my client walks back through the door tomorrow.

Pet sitting is never just about feeding and walking pets… it’s about caring for the whole home too 💛🐾
